If it helps you any I have been like that since I was 10. I am now in my late 20's and go to sleep at 12 and wake up at 6. I have no problems and it isn't such a bad thing.
I find what helps to get me in bed early is if I do a sport or gym or some form of exercise in the evening or afternoon then that will make me tired that evening.
I must tell you that I never took any medication in my life for the habit and I am glad that I never did. The last thing you want to do is take medicine to help you sleep. Listen to your Mom she is right.
Good luck. Remember, lots of exercise in the afternoon or evening will definitly put you to sleep that night.

it depends on why you are awake, if you think too much (like me) try writing down your thoughts or things you need to dobefore you try to go to sleep, if you just get antsy try working out, most people say not to do it before bed because it keeps you awake, but if you arent falling asleep anytime soon it helps you feel more accomplished and it helps get your body tired. Also, try developing a routine- drink tea, take a bath, or something else every night to tell your body its bedtime, but try NOT to watch TV, read an interesting book, or anything else that will keep you up so you can "see what happens" or get to the good part. Ive always had trouble sleeping, these things help for me just as well as sleeping pills. It helps to find out what makes you comfortable, try not to eat to close to bedtime, and if theres something (like an open door you want closed)0 thats bothering you, just get up and fix it. hope that helps!

Try drinking warm milk, sweetned a little before going to bed.
If your mom approves, get st johns wart pill, or essential oil.
Its a natural pill that you can get it in the health food store.
No side affects, puts you in a nice mellow mood.
Some people find a night mask helps, by putting it over their eyes.
Others find, some soft music might work, or sounds of nature.
I think some warm milk with a touch of sugar might do the trick!

Realize the position you are in when you first wake up in the morning. Did you sleep on your side, back, stomach....where and how were your arms and legs situated?
When you tuck in at night, get into that exact position, as it is probably your most comfortable position.
Also, do not eat or snack for three hours before you go to bed. Don't go to bed on a full stomach. Drink a glass of water or warm milk to quench your appetite.

Make sure you get some exercise when you get home from school... Try relaxing about a half hour or so before you go to bed... Don't do anything that exercises your body that much... Turn off the TV and read...

Try deep breathing (like in yoga). Chamomile tea is very helpful. Practice tensing and relaxing each muscle. That works for me. I never make it through them all.
Avoid all caffeine during the day, as well. That includes iced tea, coffee, chocolate, and of course, Red Bull!

Awh you're only 13 and can't get enough sleep?
Well, drink warm milk and listen to slow music before heading off to bed. Reading at night before bed also helps.

try to slowly clear your mind and relax all of your muscles. start with your toes and work you way up to your neck. if that doesn't work read a really boring book in a dim light. it will make your eyes tired and you will then nod off. it works for me and i have the worst time falling asleep. Praying' for ya!
God Bless!!
