Like I know for a fact my parents look through my stuff and read my diary and read my letters that I write to my bf even when I repeatedly hide them. They always find them. And it's mostly my mom....she says she trusts me and yet. I see them snooping through my stuff too, it's not like I go through their crap all the time, reading all their childhood letters and other stuff like that....why they gotta do that to me?

i am 23 and had a snooping mom, but the main reason is to make sure that you are ok. Alot of teens won't talk to their par rents because they feel there parents suggestions are never on their side, or they don't want to share things, like drugs, that they might get into trouble for. Parents just want to make sure their kids are ok.

As a mom I can say that although I trust my teenage daughter I seriously do NOT trust the rest of the world. I know it is hard to understand and you want your freedom and feel that parents snooping is a sign of disrespect, but trust me, it is all about FEAR. They love you so much and you are so precious to them that they are willing to do anything to protect you from everyone and everything....even yourself. As long as you are doing the right things and making great decisions don't worry about them snooping because as they see you growing and handling things they will ease up. It will take alot of time, and it will make you mad, but talk to them....and hang in there. Being a kid is only for such a short time...enjoy having your parents care so much. Not everyone is so lucky.

Are you honest with them?

Do you spend enough quality time with them?

Do you have behavior problems?

Are you getting bad grades?

Do they make an effort to talk with you but you don't seem interested/concerned?

Are you continuously out late?

If you can answer any of these questions with a "yes" I believe they have a right to invade your privacy. It's important for them to feel in the know. I know it's your business but they don't want you to get in trouble and want to know if you are in trouble. They do this because they care. You may not be making them feel comfortable with what you are doing. You are lucky, most parents these days could care less. You'll appreciate it when you are older.

They are good parents and want to make sure you are not getting into trouble. You will be glad they did when you get older.

Now I don't think it is right to read your diary unless they have a specific reason to do so. Reading it on a regular basis not good.

And yes I was shocked when I found out my mom went thru my things.

your parents just want to know what's going on in your life, because they care about you. maybe spending more time with your mother, talking to her, asking her opinion on things (even if you don't really care) will help her feel more in tune with you and cut back on the snooping. and it might also help to have a mature discussion with her about your feelings towards your privacy. remember you will probably not get things exactly as you want them, but that is part of compromise and growing up.

If your mum tells you she trust you she maybe does. But she maybe snoops throught your stuff to make sure that you are doing everything that's right and good, basically because she cares and is concerned about your safety and well being

It their job. But you could ask your mom without biting her head off like most teens do, to leave a few things personal. Have you broken her trust? Prove to your mom that you will tell her about your life...by telling her about your life. I understand you want your privacy but it's also your parents job to protect you from things you don't see as a problem.

well, they dont snoop because they dont trust you. its because despite the fact that you need and deserve privacy too, they are having a hard time dealing with the fact that you can handle alot of the problems in your life and dont need them to help you as much. they love you!
