Ok, I have so many physics questions I need to finish but they keep using something that I'm not clear on. When they say the boat is going 30 degrees west of north does that mean the same as going west 30 degrees then north OR does it mean south 60 degrees west or just please tell me what it means... And don't critisize me or tell me to call my friends... I don't have their numers..if you don't know just don't answer

I just don't understand when they say 30 degrees east OF south...the OF is throwing me off

of means multiply in math. i don't see the problem so i can't analyze it. did that bit of info help? didn't think so...good luck anyways!

I feel so stupid after looking at the other answers...it seems obvious now. Well, looks like i'm just here for the 2 points!=P

30 degrees west of north doesn't mean move over and then move up. It means to look north, turn to the west 30 degrees and take off.

If you were doing this on a unit circle where East is zero degrees, 30 degrees W of N is the same as 210 degrees.

In 'headings' where due north is a heading of 0 degrees, south is 180 degrees, east is 90 degrees, and west is 270 degrees.
Then 30 degrees west of north is the same as a heading of 330 degrees.

Thirty degrees west of north would be a compass course of 330 degrees; look at a compass to see why. Similarly, 60 degrees east of south would be a compass course of 120 degrees. Land surveyors use direction descriptions of that sort, for the purpose (as near as I can figure) of driving the rest of us crazy.

acceleration = v/t In this case, v = 10 m/s and t = 3 s So, acceleration = 10/3 m/s^2. Force acting on the car = ma = (1500 kg)(10/3 m/s^2) = 5000 N Now we need to know how far this car went, so we see that since it's going from rest to 10 m/s we have to use 1/2 at^2. The car went 1/2 (10/3)(3^2) = 15 m, so the total work done is just 15*5000 J = 75000 J.

30 deg west would be like this...


point an arrow due north, then move it + degress..... (figuring due north is 90 deg,) and it goes to 120 deg right? so in laymans temrs you would be traveling north by northwest... halfway between north and northwest



same deal with 30 deg east of south... point an arrow due south... (270 degress) and then move it + degrees, or counter clockwise 30 degrees to get 300

what does it matter the question is giving you the degree of the angle, the angle happens to be 30 degrees. west of north would be to take a compass and set it starting at north 30 degrees to the west so essentialy you would be heading north north west.
