Or is it a mere matter of preference and taste? Can a poorer person have a more expensive house than a rather wealthy person because of priority? Can a wealthy person invest their money into charity rather than bills or is it more likely that they have nicer things?

The amount of something never reflects how much money a person has. There are lots of people riding around in Navigators, but are $40,000 in debt.
