I read it already and I'm going to be writing an essay on it.
Does anyone have a good idea for some theme topics because I really couldn't figure one out for it.

Excellent book :)

I'd explore Crispin's voyage of self discovery from a nameless boy to someone with the confidence and courage at the end.

Another good theme is the idea of lead to gold. Crispin began as a boy who was known only as Asta's son. In the village heirarchy, he was truly lead just like his cross. A soft and worthless metal that was used by fabled alchemists to turn to gold just as Crispin turned to the equivalent of gold as he learned and grew.

You could also explore a person's worth in the time of feudalism. Crispin was the lowest person in the village at the beginning of the book because his mother was hiding her identity and his to protect them. Only the priest was brave enough to even help him against the lord of the manor. After he ran, meeting Bear and learning a skill and having a protector moved him up in the world.

Perhaps the concept of family, belonging, or social classes during the time would be good topics.
