Was carpal tunnel syndrome ruled out because of the results of an EMG test? If not, he should maybe be referred for that test. It's an electrical stimulation kind of test. We use it in W. Canada, so I don't know if would be called the same where you are. Another thing to consider is the wrist having "referred" pain from another part of the arm. I get tremendous wrist pain from tennis elbow, and also from a problem with my shoulder.

Is his wrist just numb or is his hand numb also?? Any fingers?? If his pinky finger and the one next to it is numb also. This is a condition called ulnar neuropathy. Which will usually go away in time, it is very annoying and uncomfortable. But if that is not the case, then I suggest seeing a neurologist. How long has he had it? And where exactly is the numbness?? Has he had any injury to it or struck an elbow or his wrist hard??
