D-Day was on a Tuesday it's a simple mathmatical eqation to find any day of the year, in 19--. Divide the last two digits of the year by 12 Q- number R- remander (round) then divide R by 4 you get S-. Add Q R S together then count out the days from Wed. and you get your day.

D Day was on June 6 but I'm not sure it was in 1944. Probably was.
