I was looking at TopOnlineSurveys.com and I was just wondering if this program is legit or just a scam. I want to join so I can make extra cash. However, to be a member, you have to pay upfront about $40. The website looks and seems good/legit. Should I join??

Nope, don't do it. Number one rule of taking surveys, or doing any other job...you should NEVER have to pay to get paid.

I've listed some of the sites I have taken surveys through and actually been paid (or received other rewards like gift cards or CDS) on the following, if you are interested:

http://www.windhavenweb.com/surveys

I list how they pay you, what I like and dislike about them, whether they have an affiliate or referral program, etc.

I'm sure there are others out there. Be careful though, there are also scams. Don't sign up for any survey site which asks you to pay to access the surveys. Also watch for language like "get paid for taking surveys AND SIGNING UP FOR OFFERS" if you don't want to have to sign up for stuff with other companies to get paid.

Always carefully read their terms of service and privacy policy. If in their privacy policy they say they only use aggregated info, this is GOOD SIGN they are legit. Aggregated information is info (such as answers to survey questions) that is grouped together so it can't be connected with anyone's personal identification like name, e-mail, phone or address. That's what survey sites SHOULD collect. Watch out for sites that say they give, rent, or sell any personal information (info that is not aggregated) to third parties.

All you get for your $40 is a list of people who need surveys done. You then have to register with each and every one of them, and you will only hear back from a handful of them. Many promise to pay you for the surveys, but it's usually in the form of points, which I have no idea how or what you redeem them for.
Save your money, and just google Surveys and you will find your own lists. I think it's the biggest rip-off going.

If you have to pay them up front, then their business is selling the "jobs" of doing surveys - basically, it's a scam.

Stay away from survey companies that require you to pay!!

Work from Home Guide has lists of FREE survey companies you can join if you are interested. They won't charge you for it either.
