It's about a guy who is getting married and overhears a conversation between a bridesmaid and a waiter in which the groom finds out the bride sleeps around. The groom tells them they should close the door when they gossip and doesn't want to face the news so he pretends what he heard isn't important.
Hence the lines:

Oh, well imagine, as I'm pacing the pews in a church corridor,
and I can't help but to hear, no I can't help but to hear an exchanging of words:
"What a beautiful wedding! What a beautiful wedding!" says a bridesmaid to a waiter.
"And yes, but what a shame, what a shame, the poor groom's bride is a whore."

and

I'd chime in with a "Haven't you people ever heard of closing a goddamn door?!"
No, it's much better to face these kinds of things with a sense of poise and rationality.

It's kind of the idea that sins can be forgiven and there's no use turning them into some dramatic tragedy.

If you knew anything you would know the lead singer of Panic! At The Disco is good friends with Fall Out Boy's Pete (bass) and Pete help writes songs for P!ATD. FOB's songs dont make sense, and neither do P!ATD's. But I Write Sins Not Tragedies is not P!ATD best song, so if you like that one, you should explore their other songs from their new Cd- A Fever You Can't Sweat Out

dont judge a song by what the music video is about. sometimes that happens to be the case.. but not always..

like in dashboard confessional's music video for 'don't wait' .. there is a girl in it, and later chris carrabba says that the song isnt nessisarally even about a girl...

i mean, maybe panic! at the disco just thought the whole marriage thing was a cool video.. and thats not even what the song is about... just to tell you..

BUT.......

however this song does seem to be about a wedding.. soooooooo if i were to guess i would say its about a guy.. who is getting married.. but everybody but the groom knows that the wife is .. pretty much a whore. and a cheater... so pretty much the guy who 'chimed in' is telling these people to mind their own business. and.. when he says 'our marriage is saved' i think that means.. well good thing i found this out before i married you.

Teh music has little to do with the titel. i think of the music incredibly plenty explains it self on my own; I mean a pair is getting married and the bride is a whore. hear to "mendacity Is the main relaxing a woman could have without Taking Her Clothess Off"... that's my prominent from Panic!.

he is saying that he is telling you about the sins his future bride is commiting but he does not want you to feel bad for him and turing the story into a tragedy.

I dont either... just that it had to be censored. It said something like" what a beautiful weeding, the bridesmaid is a w****. Then, it says, "I chimed in, havent you people ever heard of closing the damn door, which suggests that the singer has beed evasdropping.

It's about this guy who is getting married but his concience is telling him of all of the things she is doing or what she will do if he were to go through with the marriage. Does that help?
