You are probably experiencing round ligament pain...I had it until I was almost 5 months along...the best way I found to get rid of it was to take a hot shower...and you can also take Tylenol and try laying on your side...those always worked for me...don't lay with your legs stretched out...it just causes more discomfort. Just wait though the discomfort is worse towards the end..I am 39 weeks and 4 days and between pain and needing to pee you don't get much sleep...little advice..sleep while you can!! If it becomes any more of a concern call your doctor!!

I didn't remember until I read your question but I had sharp abdominal pains too early on in my pregnancy.
My dr. told me early on that I shouldn't worry about miscarriages unless I was showing obvious signs. He said, if I'm going to miscarry this early on there is nothing I can do about it anyway. It actually gave me a little more confidence in the experience in a strange sort of way. I didn't miscarry by the way.
There are so many new things happening in your body right now it's bound to cause some discomfort. It could also be constipation or some other gastro problem.
During pregnancy the soft tissue of your colon stops working properly (perastalsis stops) and it could be the cause of your
discomfort. If you think that's it, try prune juice every morning (but not with sugar added, you don't need to worry about gestational diabetes).
The big thing to watch for, as you know, is bleeding. If you don't see copious amount of blood, chances are good everything is normal.

This is normal. So breathe first and now exhale. :)
Your uterus is beginning to stretch...that explains the discomfort. This feeling is most profound for women during their first pregnancy because she is hyper-sensitive to every little difference in her changing body. Also, even if you were spotting or bleeding, that is normal too. This could be the result of the implementation of the embryo. Just for the record, I bled with two of my four normal pregnancies. Not all women who miscarry bleed however - sometimes the embryo is lodged in the tube, anything that can block or prevent any form of discharge during the actual miscarry of the baby is always possible.
You should rest a little easier however because most miscarriages happen without the mother even realizing she was pregnant.
I know this is a scary time...try your best to enjoy this time - I remember my first pregnancy well...I was complaining to the doctor that I wasn't;t sleeping like I used to and he said, "Well sweetheart, welcome to motherhood, you're never going to have a normal night's sleep again!"
I will say a little prayer for you and your bambino!

Yes unfortunately feeling discomfort is like the epicenter of being pregnant....lol. Once you have become pregnant the body is doing a lot in preparation for you to develop and carry a fetus...Trust me...You will be bloated and have other symptoms. But don't worry yourself. The more you read and learn the easier this will be and the more relaxed you will become. When I came on here and started reading all these different questions, I realized that all these other women had the same concerns as me. And its all normal. No you are not miscarrying...God forbid. If you were you would probably be bleeding and experiencing other symptoms....Just wait for your appointment with the doctor ask all thes questions you want and follow all of his orders, especially taking your prenatal vitamins....Congratulations.

There are two ligaments that attach your uterus to your pelvis on each side. They are called round ligaments. This is one of the most common early concerns of pregnancy. Most women will get pulling, sharp pains here as the uterus begins to expand and stretch them. It does not mean you will miscarry, and is completely normal. If you would have severe pain on one side that does not subside and doubles you over, or causes you to have trouble breathing, then we would worry about an ectopic pregnancy. You are in the clear. Some women find it helps to massage the sides when they feel the pulling. Good luck to you and congratulations!

It is unusual to have cramp this early but we are all different, your baby may be a bit farther along than you think or it could even be twins ,don't panic what till you have the ultrasound,as the baby grows your muscles and tendons stretch and you get sharp pains here and there ,If you miscarry you will feel back pain that doesn't go away and gets worse like period pain but stronger and you will have blood.so what you describe couldn't be that.Yes you do bleed when you miscarry but a healthy baby sometimes spots a little .

Call your doctor. Since you are in your first pregnancy and your first trimester. Since you aren't experiencing any bleeding it might just be your muscles starting to stretch. My muscles stretching hurt really bad. But you can never be too safe in pregnancy. I understand how nerve racking this can all be, pregnancy is a weird time. Your body is changing every day, most of which you have never felt before. Remember, you should never feel weird about calling your doctor. That is their job and yours as a mom. Good luck and congrats!

more than likely, what yo are experiencing is your tendons on the side of your stomach stretching. They do this to make room for the baby. If you have a miscarriage, then you will for sure bleed. There will be large amounts of blood, and large clots. The bleeding will be enough to make you go to the er. Check out:

they give you week by week information that will help you understand what you are going threw.

It's probably just your uterus stretching and perfectly normal. You'll feel a lot of weird pains when you're pregnant, but do be sure to mention them to your doctor when you go.
You'll know when you're having a miscarriage. There will be severe amounts of bleeding and you will have severe menstrual-like cramps. No bleeding or spotting is definintely a good sign!
