I'm going to be changing schools at the start of next year, sophomore year, anyway I'm scared because i'm not going to know anyone there, I'm not sure how I'm going to make friends after everyone already made friends with each other during freshman year. I hate it when I walk into a class where I don't know anyone and I have no friends to sit next to or anything. Do I just talk to the random people around me and hope that they'll hang out with me or what?

When I was in high school I went to three different high schools. Not easy because I was shy.
The way I surrived was getting involved in a variety of activities. And often you need to just say "hi I am new here, be nice to me" then smile. haha.
Volenteer for things. Join a team. These ways you will meet more kids.
I moved to Chicago when I was first in high school and the friend I made when I volenteered to babysit for a community activity is still one of my best friends in life. I just talked to her today. She lived on the east coast and me on the west coast.
I know it will be hard, but don't change yourself to fit in to a group.
Don't do things you normally would of done becasue you need to have a friend or friends.

When you grow up. These high school years will be such a brief time in your life....so make good choices and hang in there, you will find your friends. give it time.

You have a great opportunity to start over from scratch. First, don't look needy. Don't try to force conversation with people. If you feel like saying something then say it, but don't just walk up to people when you have nothing to say.

Bring something with you that keeps you looking busy, but also leaves you the option to talk to people. If you like to draw you could sit and draw something. Perhaps you could drop your pencil/pen and then see if someone picks it up. That can be a conversation starter.

My suggestion is that you join clubs and make an effort to circulate around.

Basically, notice something about someone and comment on them then smile and make small talk, see if you have something in common and go from there, or sit next to someone and say something like, "hi, I'm _____ (Insert name), I'm new, what's your name?"

Just talk to someone near you and say "Hi! I'm......, what's your name?I'm new here......."
Don't be scared. I think changing school will give you benefit because people don't know you and you're free to become somebody else.
Good Luck....
