I'm definetly no pro at this but you need a rear wheel drive or all wheel drive car to drift if you're a beginner. If you look at the videos and magazines, the vast majority of the cars are rear wheel drive.

That's why the Corolla GTS (AE86) is so popular now. It's a cheap and effective rear wheel drive car to go drifting.

Only a seasoned drifter knows how to drift in a front wheel drive car.

if your talking about a rear wheel drive- then some will do it depending on what it is? drive in to the apex of the corner and accelerate the back end will start to oversteer a light balance of throttle is needed too much or little and you will loose control... takes an open space and practice to master.
front wheel drive- they wont really do it on there own not without unsettling the car first by turning left first into a right hander then turn right to go round and vise versa dont know y you would want to pull up the hand brake on going into a corner on tarmac could cause serious problems ie hitting that tree....
if on gravel you can have more fun.............

if your car is front wheel drive just pull the emergancy brake ( causeing the rear wheel to lock up) and turn the stering wheel the way you want to turn. your rear end will whip around. it will take practice. i dont know about a rear wheel drive car.
