why?? the only thing that makes it dangerous is talking to people you dont know. its just as dangerous as anything on the internet. most friends people have are people they know. i think before even giving the internet to a child/teen you should explain to them that they shouldnt be talking to people they dont know or go into any chatrooms and to not post ANY personal information and the dangers of the internet.......i dont think myspace should be blamed for all this. if you dont feel your child is responsible enough to use the internet dont let them use it and supervise them because other things than myspace could be very dangerous.

Children reveal too much information about themselves on myspace. If I were a creepy pedophile, I could EASILY disguise myself as being a teenager who lives in the same area as the teen I'm talking to (but I'm not a creepy pedophile, and I don't disguise myself as a teenager, lol). When I first started using the Internet, everything was relatively new. People didn't know to keep their information private, and parents didn't know to regulate their children's use. Had my parents known the information I unknowingly revealed about myself to perfect strangers, I would hope they would have regulated my Internet use more. It's too easy to slip up and tell the wrong person the right thing to have them find you. Haven't you watched those Primetime episodes where they caught all the pervy men trying to have sex with minors? Myspace shouldn't be blamed, but parents should be made aware of what it is and how their child uses it.

My parents trust me because I have my own laptop and every other thing here in the universe but a myspace I have an xanga, but my Mom feels that Myspaces are dangerous and I respect her opinion. Does you mom know you have a myspace? Most parents dont know their children have them and would not allow it if they knew. Just promise me you will not give out any personal info and if something like a threat occurrs, yell your parents!

Sure my daughter can have a myspace account. And I get access to it and every other thing she writes, posts, e-mails, or otherwise looks at, visits, or does on the internet, whenever I want. That's how I parent her.

My daughter is almost 13 and I think she is still too young, too immature. She knows the rules and all the advice to keep herself safe but she is still too naive and will eventually trust the wrong person. I'll have her wait a while longer.

It's mostly the girls they worryt about. Girls about my age [15] are naturally looking for 'love' from someone, trying to find new relationships, and whatnot.
