I don't give busy work for homework...I rarely give it, actually...but if I do, I make it worth your while to study (ie: a quiz grade/graded paper). I'm not sure what grade you're in or how much homework you think is a lot, but just wait until college...I was expected (as an English major) to read easily 1000pages a week, plus other homework, plus working a part time job and trying to have just the tiniest social life. Get yourself organized, and take care of what homework you can while in school (instead of talking for ten minutes at the end of class, do some studying!). Good Luck!

Just how much homework are you talking about? 3-4 hours a night should be about average. If you feel overwhelmed, talk to your teachers. They might be able to arrange for additional class time to help you get a head start on your homework, or they might have some helpful advice to better manage your time.

Yes, they do give homework to keep you busy, but also to keep you busy learning. That is their job.
