How do you send text from a computer to a cell phone of a different company?

Question

I have US Cellular and at their site I can type and send text to other US Cellular customers but not to anyone whose phone is connected to any other cell provider.

From the first answer I understand that I have to know the exact title of the phone provider. HMMM reckon I'll have to call each person and record who their provider is.

Try to use gmail.
send your text message to
number@phoneprovider

example
[e-mail]

with cingular you may want to bypass to their internet website and attractiveness on your message with your telephone determination and the different persons telephone determination yet idk about the different cellular amenities. i hate texting...why do not you basically call?
