Ok for our homecoming parade we are making a float with the theme "roast the rattlers" and we want something to do with a campfire but we need something else! Can someone help us please!

I take it the opposing team are the "Rattler's" ?
The previous answer is smart with the use of fabric flames and a fan and lights to simulate your "Rattler"
A GOOD idea for float design is to search our those from your school's Theater Department (those geeky stagehands)... who can be pretty innovative in building such objects. A 1 foot diameter, 15 foot snake ?
My Junior year '82 (NOT 1882 smart-alec ! ) I grew tired of the well-meaning cheerleaders and their chicken-wire & crepe paper creations... and designed our float (theme was Halloween: '82 will BOO you" ) A THREE story haunted house on a flat-bed... light-weight, yet could hold people in each window... with stage-lighting from a Honda portable-generator, and various other effects and pyrotechnics.

Use a gas fireplace logs - portable tank - check with Lowes or Home Depot - bring along real logs and place people around the roast = put a banner up stating "ROAST THE RATTLERS" - good luck!@

wow! Our class is doing our float too...our homecoming is this friday...i'm so excited....umm yea make a banner that says roast the rattlers and get one of those fake fires that look real...they have fabric"flames" and they are blown from the base by a fan and the light makes the "flames" glow...i've seen em in stores....its pretty cool...check a home decorating store or home depot....you could paint a small mural of a rattler on a stick roasting on a fire... or act it out instead....hope i helped!
