why do i have to wear a bra?

my mom keeps telling me that i have to wear a bra.Why? I am only 12

Maybe that's your moms way of trying to tell you she thinks you're groing up or hitting puberty whatever. You don't have to wear a bra though and if you don't want to, just don't.

You don't--technically. But mum's can be bossy, eh? Bra's are not "necessary" at all, but most people in First World countries cnsider them a "basic" item of clothing, and a social requirement, for a girl.A bra *will* keep your breasts from sagging as early as they might without one tho. Just a small point. :)

That's a personal choice. Read up on the matter for yourself and make your decisions. Ask your mother why she wishes for you to wear one - it may be a social thing, it may be her perception of a health issue, etc. There's probably little harm in going without, but again that's a personal choice which only you can make.

i used to wonder the same thing,and still ask myself what idiot invented these elastic things we hold ourselves in with.granted,there are some who really need the support.i have always found them uncomfortable,and usually wear sports bras because of that,but i can understand your mom wanting you to be 'proper'.like someone else said,in western countries,most normal people expect decent women to wear bras.your mom probably just wants you to be one of them....

I am a guy and you can notice a girl that isn't wearing one. Beacause there nipples are sticking out, but its preatty hot.
