-no no no ...use gel coat it whats on the boat right now buy a quart add the tint of your choice stir in add harder last as long as your boat just tape out what you want to cover roll on with a rough roller ....hey you can even put sand on it to help your footing but to do that you need to put the sand between the first coat and second coat, a seed spreader or large salt shaker work great,, STOP DON,T FORGET WHEN YOU ADD HARDENER TIME IS TICKING the price of white gellcoat, tint, hardener should be about two times the cost of a good boat paint but will out last it 10 to 1..... oh i ! forgot wipe down floor with astone and sand with 60 grit and remmber a little tint gos a long way,,add a drop at a time ..mix well

Rustoleum is a good enamel paint designed by fisherman from their experiences on boats - plus it's relatively inexpensive and easy to find in quart cans.

As far as using gelcoat - I think that fellow forgot to mention that you need to use an air inhibitor so that the gelcoat will set otherwise it will stay a gooey mess. Plus gelcoat is fun to use if you like plenty of toxic chemicals!

Look on line for a product call Durabak. It holds up well is used on ships;barges and the likes.I took up the carpet in my boat and put it down. They have lots of colors too. Sugested that you buy it in the quarts. It is easier to work with.Beliieve me it is a good product.Make sure that the material you are putting it on is clean and a little rough.it will stay on most materials. If on aluminum you will need to use at lease 60 grit to rough it up. Good luck!
