Depending on the person there are countless ways in which one could see life with better eyes as well as appreciating it a little more. But in the end this depends on too many factors, the individual, the experience, consequences etc... But there is only one thing that could make life seem better for everyone who experiences it, and this is death. When someone's in the brink of dying life automatically seems a whole lot shorter and definitely more precious.

I'm not sure you really worded your question in a manner that'll make a direct answer possible. If you meant to ask what is it that makes life great and worth living.. I can offer my slant.
First off..it's health. Without that..all oher things take a back seat.
Second...family. We ALL need a safe harbor..a place we can run to and hide when we need help...comfort..assistance. Family is key is that regard.
Third..and last to me..is everything else. I've been rich...poor and everything else in between. But I know one thing..I felt best when I was feeling good, both physicalyl and mentally and when I had my family close. It doesn't take a lot to have a good life and enjoy it. Most people over complicate it..I did for years.

Knowledge and a lack of knowledge are the answer. You need to understand your limitations. You need to have an idea of what is going on around you. A child appreciates life and fun and food and... you get the idea. An older person appreciates life remembering victory of obstacles, friends, fun, honoring others and himself. The rest of us appreciate life when we actually slow down and realize that we are living. We are not just going to work. We are not just running errands. We are not just too busy. We can also think about our environment. We can choose to contribute to others. We can choose to share with others. We can choose to live.

realising as an absolute incontravertable fact that one day you WILL die.

this allows you to clarify for yourself whats truly important.

many people just dawdle thru life trying to push away the thought of death as being morbid, and they have a head in the sand attitude that somehow it will never actually happen to them.
if you feel youve got all the time in the world, nothing is that important.
if you feel time is preciou, you might use it more wisely to do the thing you really want to do.
such a person will never come to the end of their days full of regrets.

The way that you CHOOSE to live your life is the same way that you should appreciate it. You are in control of your own decisions and in the event that the outcome is not favorable, still you learn from that to prevent from wrongdoing next time.
