I went to the dr. to figure that same thing out when I turned 40. Blood tests showed I was already into full blown menopause. I was still having periods though, heavy and painful. Night sweats were killing me. I had always had problems from my first period when I turned 12. Had 2 children in my 20's so I figured at 40 I didn't need all that crap inside me anymore. So I had a hysterectomy and went on Hormone Replacement Theropy. Best thing I ever done. My tubes were tied when I was 24. They say now that that can cause premature menopause. Depending on how bad your menopause symptoms are, you can choose to go on HRT or not. And for the duration? It can last from months to years. All women are different.

Hello, 39 here.
I experienced some of the same symptoms.
I wound up going to a specialist & found out I had not only menopause, I also had a prolapsed utures.
That was causing my peroids to be abnormal.
Go see your Dr.
Good Luck.
