Okay, first of all, there is no such thing as a number with two decimal points, so considering the '$' I'm assuming that the first decimal point is actually an attempt at a comma.

Because I refuse to potentially provide a child with homework answers, I shall simply explain how to do the calculation.

Note, I use '/' to designate a fraction, so 'X / $9,970.71' is X over $9,970.71.

X / $9,970.71 = 2% / 100%

To find the answer to this question involves dividing fractions. First you multiply the numerator of the first fraction with the denominator of the second. The numerator is the number on top, the denominator is the number on the bottom. So you'll end up with:

X x 100 = 2 x 9,970.71

Do the multiplication on both sides so you end up with:

100X =

To end up with X = , you next need to divide both sides of the equation by 100.

If this is enough for you to figure out, it's time to go to the teacher and say that you need a math tutor - NOW.

To all other posters who pointed out the obvious 2% = .02, or worse just supplied the answer in general; this could be a kid wanting others to do homework for him. Give a kid an answer, he gets an 'A' on his homework the next day. Show a kid HOW to get the answer, using the equation format most teachers actually require to be shown to know that the kid not only got the answer right, but knows the correct form and that kid will never have to go phishing for the answer again.

I do believe it is 20 cents, when rounded off. Round off the first number to $9.97 and multiply by .02 and you get $.1994= $.20 Now I hope I am correct, because I have never saw money written out that way. You would have to round it off to the nearest penny and change the % to a decimal by moving the decimal point 2 spaces to the left. Have fun!

Did you know Google is also a calculator? Just type the problem into the google search bar and it will give you the answer. (If you typed it in right!)

9 970.71 * .02 = 199.4142
