It is a growing city, It is a lovely town and just a few miles out is a country that is beautifully. I-40 runs through it and just a few miles from Nashville and about 30 mins away from Murfreesboro. Lebanon has great resturants, shopping areas. Murfreesboro is just a few miles away from Nashville as well and I-24 runs through it as well. This city is Really growing, I work there alot and it is a town growing full of schools and subdivisions. It has just about everything that can be thought of.
I hoped that I have helped, feel free to email for any questions that I might can help on. There are some other towns like Mt Juliet that is in the same County as Lebanon that is right off I-40 and is closer to Nashville, and Frankline is not to far either. The futher away from Nashville the cheaper the prices of homes in most cases. In general all the surrounding towns East and South of Nashville is great places to live. I can't say much about North and West of it, Don't work in those areas.

Lebanon TN is an up an coming suburb of Middle TN just outside of Nashville about 45 minutes. There is much building going on there, and until recently it has been very rural. It has a wonderful historic district, but also has some of Nashville's most popular outlet shops.
There is a great outlet mall there, with many other shopping centers (smaller). I know there is a new Home Depot, New Chili's Restaurant, several big name call dealerships ( I went shopping there recently and purchase my vehicle in Lebanon). Lots of growing.
I don't know it well enough to recommend the best spot to buy a home, but could recommend some Nashville Realtors you might contact for info on who you might talk with.
I think the answer about contacting the Chamber of Commerce is great advice.
Wikipedia has a bunch of information on Lebanon, and so does Google.
Good Luck with your move, and with my best southern hospitality by Internet. Welcome to Tennessee......
If you need an interior designer once you arrive, just let me know. I could travel. I can recommend a great furniture store there, they have 3 stores, but look for Smith's and ask for Becky, Tell her Shari sent you.

Lebanon is not a bad place. It's not too city...but not too small town. You have probably about 3 malls in about 10-20 minutes driving. The airport is close by and you are probably dead center for a good commute to any company hiring.
Now the apartments in Lebanon I don't think there are that many to choose from....but there are plenty in the surrounding areas.
You have areas like Smyrna, Lavergne, Antioch, Hermitage, Madison, Rivergate....
Hope this is some help

It's about 30 miles east of Nashville, on I-40. It is a relatively small city, not a lot of restaurants! It is surrounded by some very pretty hills/trees. Cedars Of Lebanon is a large state park on the outskirts and offers hiking, nature trails, horseback riding, camping, pool, and picnic facilities.
Not much shopping there- they had a really good outlet mall, but it has fallen on hard times the past couple of years. It does still have Polo, Coach, Jones NY & a few other big names.
The climate is nice-- 4 seasons, well-defined. In fall, the multitude of trees are beautiful.
Just for trivia, it is also the national headquarters of Cracker Barrel.

It was nice when I lived and went to high school there...but I graduated from Lebanon High School in 1980. My wife still has family there and we've been back a couple of times since then. It sure is bigger these days, but still OK. It's got a town square, but I think the old men who used to sit on a bench there and whittle are gone, now. It's more suburban than rural these days (I have lived in a town in VA for the past 18 years with a population of 3,000...I know rural). It's convenient to N-ville if you want city-stuff and it's convenient to state parks (which are some of the most beautiful in the country, in my mind) when you want to get back to Nature. Try Fall Creek Falls State Park, only a couple of hours away.

I actually went to Tennessee recently and would see the signs to Lebanon while going oto Nashiville. From what I hear its a pretty nice place. It's of course going to be small since its country but its near Nashville and other good places to see. Tennesse overall is a pretty nice place to be. Lebanon is not a totally isolated place in the middle of nowhere so don't be worried.

We'll be neighbors! I live in the Donelson area, but was in Lebanon on Saturday! It's pretty rural, but Wilson Co borders Davidson (Nashville) so you're not too far out and away from everything. It's the county seat of Wilson Co so it's the biggest city. I went to school in Mt Juliet, which is also in Wilson Co. It's about 20 miles from Nashville. It's pretty quiet, but it's growing. Make sure you go eat at Demos' sometime! They have the best soup in the world! It's on 231 off the interstate at I-40. Welcome to the area!!

I would suggest Hendersonville, Tennessee as an alternative to Lebanon, Tennessee.
The school systems in Hendersonville are on par with private schools.
Contact our Chamber of Commerce for a school information packet.

Lebanon is really nice. My mother-in-law's sister lives there, and it really is a decent city. It doesn't have a high crime rate, and I don't know if you have children, but the schools are good.
My husband is from Hendersonville, which is right there in that area outside of Nashville. And really, all of those cities are very nice and friendly. They're not huge by any means, but they all have pretty much what you need, and if by some chance they don't, Nashville is right there!
We plan to settle in Hendersonville after my husband retires from the Navy in a few years, and I can't imagine raising our children in a more perfect spot then Middle Tennessee.
I hope you enjoy it!
