Here's the deal:

Streisand, Judy Garland, her daughter Liza Minnelli and several other larger-than-life "divas" have been historically associated with the Gay community. Some of them -- like Streisand and Bette Midler -- got their start in small, gay clubs. The gays loved their acts and supported them early in their careers.

However, there's a flip-side to all this. Sometimes Streisand or Minnelli are "shorthand" for calling someone gay. If a character on TV has a Streisand album collection, the audience will think, "Oh, a queer!"

Obviously, Streisand and Minnelli have plenty of straight fans. And just because a straight male loves Barbra Streisand doesn't necessarily mean he is gay.

And, conversely, just because a gay man does not know or like Barbra Streisand does not mean that he is somehow "not really gay" or less-than-a-gay.

Before Madonna there was Streisand. Before Streisand there was Garland. Before Garland there was ...

The diva has a history with the gay community. Perhaps because they are larger-than-life women ... misfits ... women who sing with full emotion ... while their gay fans are repressing their emotions (or were -- things are better.)

Your missing the strand of the Babs DNA that has been implanted to every gay baby. Maybe if you listened to her for 702 hours straight you have that missing DNA strand. But, you have to watch all her movies at the same time......if you last that long. Then you are truly the gayest ever.
Quickly now.....
