I remember a time (I'm not that old , so it wasn't THAT long ago)
when we would come home after church eat dinner and take our baths, then Mom Dad and us kids would sit all together in front of ONE T.V. and watch it as a family....the Muppet show would come on and dance fever. then they would turn it OFF and tuck us in bed with a story....I also remember a time when cartoons on television tackled real life issues and even had (GASP) a Moral!!!!!,
sit-coms actually entertained, Sports were sports not ad campaigns with something going on between commercials.....I don't think television will ever be used for anything more than to entertain brainless morons that society has created by taking out anything a bit educational

Now - I can understand your frustration with TV - but if your computer is the same then maybe you need to rethink what you're doing and where you are spending your time!
Try the link below and just type in anything you fancy - from Benny Hill (988 results) to cricket (2959) or how about television (12610)! Whilst there look at my personal favourite TORN - little chap dressed in black doing a mime.
Henceforth your computer will be safe.

I'm not as enlightened as you are, but I'm getting there! I feel exactly the same about watching television as you do, but since getting interested in computers back in February, I have been having so much fun learning about the Internet and all, it will be a while before I'm ready to walk away from computers. But yes on your feelings about television. Funny, isn't it, because back in the eighties, there were so many great television programs you couldn't watch them all, and now it is commercials and an occasional glimpse of programming, huh. Thanks very much for posting this question, as I am certain many people are as fed up with television as we are. Sent to you from Chris in South Portland, Maine, U.S.A. (I am now 63 years old and much enjoy watching all those old programs on VHS tapes which I made back then before all the commercial interruptions.)

I think the junk outweighs the good stuff by a huge percentage, but I'm not giving up on tv. There are a few shows out there that I completely escape into when I watch.
Don't throw your tv out. Just re-purpose it as a plant stand. We all need to recycle more.

no it will not, why because the T.V is old, i mean look at it this way you can simply download your favorite T.V show of the internet, or just simply buy the DVD, (i personally buy the DVD so i can bore my children in the future with old stuff) but anyway, the computer is SO much better than T.V and yess old shows were better, unfortunatley when we get old the computer will probably be outdated much like the T.V is today, and no one will want to use it only if u r that desperate, and there will be some new thing, like watching T.V through your brain..... well thats it bye

I bought a laptop a month ago and have hardly moved but to work and eat. I even sleep less coz its endless knowledge and fun, you can build bridges you can share your thoughts.
Tv is not interactive, it's just an idiot box as my uncle would say. at least with tinternet you caqn reach out and share interests and learn things to improve your lives and learn from others, hence the reason you are on yahoo answers. Tv wouldn't give you feedback would it. But you can always reach for someone who is in a similar predicament antwhere in the world. So, why you wanna mindlessly sit in front of a telly, when you can expand your universe with the internet

David Lynch says that the internet is the "new TV", so it is probably not worth watching in the future.

if future tv show writers and creators in the industry can come up with better stuff than the garbage that is on our screens today, alas no more reality tv shows and soap operas, then perhaps so
