it depends on your location. I went to catholic school, and i wore casual clothin to events like that. However, i'd suggest you wear what you would feel comfortable in, while it being appropriate for a church. just think of it as dressing up for church, wat would you wear to your church?

Nice clothes would include anything like a shirt or dress pants and running shoes or anything that you have. The Mass is a celebration so you are celebrating the last supper when Jesus spoke to His disciples and showed them how to celebrate remembering Him and what He did for them. He gave up his life and by breaking bread and drinking wine those who celebrate are repeating what Jesus showed them on that last supper night. The bread represents His body and the wine His blood which was given by Him freely to make up for our sins. The Mass celebrates Jesus in our lives so wear what you might to a great celebration. In young peoples words wear something that does not disrespect God.

Here's what casual-dressy church ensemble you can try:

Knee-length skirts...you'll have to conform with the length (never above the knee) but you can have fun with the shapes, you can use a trumpet skirt, bubble skirt (REALLY in this fall), full skirt (always super cute), A-line, pencil (also REALLY in this fall, specially if it's high-waisted), peasant, etc.
Also any kind of dress pant would be cool, as long as they're not too tight (again, high-waists are big this fall).
Avoid shorts, even if they're of the "dressy" variety (which I don't think really exists but, whatever).

Tops: Avoid sleeveless, strapless or spaghetti strapped tops/camisoles. Some churches don't allow them, so wear a nice cap-sleeve (that's the riskier you can get, and you're really pushing it); 3/4 sleeves are very classy and non-traditional. Don't go backless either, or with a deep, plunging neckline. You can have fun with the fabrics (NO SEE-THROUGH though), cuts (empire, shirred, etc.) and colors. If you wear a cami, wear a boxy cropped jacket on top (think Chanel-style, very IN this fall); or a fitted blazer; maybe even a nice shrug (provided it's not too festive)

Casual dresses are also a nice option, as long as they're not revealing (see tops) or too short (above knee-length).

In this case, rely on accesories to make you stand out. If you decide to go with dark colors, or monochromatic, pick a nice accesory that'll pop against that surface. A chunky neckace or a nice bracelet or earrings will make the outfit.
Also, shoes and purse should be considered. For your purse go for clean lines, but have fun with different colors. For shoes, avoid sky-high heels, or strappy sandals. Stick with nice mules or slingback with a kitten-heel or funky flats. Try to avoid exposed toes, but also have fun with the colors and the textures (although you should stay away from extremely festive textures like sequins or beads, etc).

*Do: Have fun with colors and prints; also fabrics. Use creative cuts (bias, hemlines, empire, shirring). Toppers for camis
*Avoid: Short skirts / shorts, tight pants, sleeveless / strapless tops or dresses; plunging necklines , backless tops; see-through fabrics, casual prints (word / band t-shirts) or offensive prints; sequins or overtly festive fabrics. Open-toed or strappy sandals. Very high heels.

Dress cloths, slacks shirt. If you wear a skirt make sure it goes below your knees. I never went to catholic school although I was raised catholic, but I always went in blue jeans and a button down shirt.

You don't have to wear a uniform? Lucky you :) Go for conservative, a nice pair of dress pants or skirt (Not mini). Think of "job interview" type clothes, it's not a social or dance. Good luck!

yeah, i have the same thing :P For church we had to dress up too, and i always wore nice slacks and a button down blouse, just cuz it's dressy but not too formal. That way you're comfortable for the rest of the day.

Well, I also go to a Christian school and I think you should wear something modest, but shows of your personality if you know what I mean.

wear a conservative dress or skirt outfit which should not cause undue attention to you. This is a time to be reverant and respectful to God.
