What do you think of this Phillies slugger? Is he pure talent, or are pitchers just not intentionally walking him? Would he be the first non-steroided person to beat Maris's 61 in a season, or are McGwire and Bonds legit? Personally...I hate the guy. He is the whole Phillies team. You could make an expansion team, with him and 24 preschoolers, and they'd still be in the wild card race.

The guy is a super star in the making. He's clean and if he hits 62 home runs I'll consider him as the new home run champion for a single season. I hope he wins the NL MVP this year.

He's a big time hitter, but, it's not like this guy is a 19 year old phenom, he's older than Albert Pujols...The most surprising thing to me has been, the fact he has been better the second half than he was the first...This is generally not the case, especially with "younger" players...He's being patient, taking walks and hitting the ball where it's pitched, very impressive...

BA-316 OB%-413 SLG-682 OPS-1095 HR-56 RBI-138 R-94

The guy could use some glove work, 14 errors is too many and he's not a good first baseman...Not that I wouldn't accept his defense in exchange for the offense...

The Phillies do have Chase Utley and Jimmy Rollins, pretty good players. The Phillies team .266 BA is 8th in the NL and their .344 OB% is second so it's not like Howard is driving an empty bus...

The guy is having a great season, but, lets not induct him in the HOF just yet :)< ...

Listen up my man. Ryan Howard is the real deal. You must be a fan of another team because the Phils are a team, not 1 guy. The Phillies have the best 2nd baseman in baseball- Chase Utley. A great catcher now, Chris Coste(this guy spent 13 years in the minor league to get his shot and has been kicking butt since activated). Shane Victorino - centerfield - unquestionably 1 of, if not the fastest man in baseball and a great hitter. Dave Delucci (from my high school in B.R.) - one of the best utility men in baseball who has earned a starting role since Abreu's trade. Pat Burrell - a slugger who still seems to be finding his game. Yes the Phillies are 1 or 2 starting pitchers away from being as good as the Mets. The answer to your aforementioned question is, yes Ryan Howard is pure talent and if you watched the game with the Marlins last night he was intentionally walked 3 times.

This guy is the future face of baseball. He has two 3 homer games this year. He has hit the most HR's after the all-star break of any person that participated in the HR Derby. He probably has 22 inch pythons. This guy is definetly not on steroids because he is too young. But pitchers are not walking him because maybe he's just having a breakout year like when Ryan Klesko somehow hit 40 HR's for the Padres a couple years back. Plus he has like 160 hits. So yes, it is pure talent.

Well, first of all i think Howard is an excellant player, and he's pure natural and power. And i agree, Phillies would be no where with out him and he is their whole team. He will break the 61 with out steroids, but he wont be the first non steroid player. Barry Bonds is innocent and he never took steroids. People grow. When im 20 i will be working out, but i will be small. When im 40 i will be much bigger because i will be working out and thats what Barry Bonds did.

If i'm the guy that has Howard, i might want to turn down this commerce. Damon is starting up to expose his years slightly, and Ortiz is off to a horrendously gradual initiate. no one will supply plenty for Papi till he snaps out of the stoop he's in.

well, if that team was in the national league, i completely agree, they would be in the wild card race... however, you can't deny the pure skill of the soon-to-be best player in phillies history.... i mean, i'm a mets fan, and i can tell you, the guy's good, and for real... he may possibly end his career as the best player EVER...

why do you hate him? because he's good? he is an incredible talent. and why would pitchers not walk him? do you honestly think that a major-league ptcher would rather give up a home run than walk him. he's been a power hitter his entire life, all the way back to high school. bonds and mcgwire both juiced, everyone knows that.

BAJcas, Howard has a long way to go to even approach Mike Schmidt.

As for your question, he looks like a good player, but he has only played two seasons. Get back to me in 2010.
