O.K. we all know about 9/11 and how many people died. We went to war over 9/11 and paid plenty of people money to get along with families that lost members of their families. Nothing is wrong with that at all. My question is why wasn't the same thing done for the victims of Katrina? After weeks Bush finally made it to Lousiana to do something about it and still haven't done much. Lousiana still looks as if the hurricane hit yesterday. Is that responisble for a President? I would expect more from an President. Do you believe that if he shouldn't be spending money on the war and on our own people? Almost just as many people died in Lousiana as on 9/11.

give me a break, dont even bring that katrina **** here. Katrina victims were told to leave or TO LAZY but they thought it would be cool to stay and ride out a hurricane or better yet, be dumb enough to live below sea level. The people in the towers didnt ask for what happened, they were totally innocent. And its laughable that you say just as many people died in Katrina, the number is still under 2000 For Katrina.

didnt the katrina victims get what they needed from all the looting and robbing they did ?
I am assuming you're black or this wouldn't have even brought it up. SO lets touch on another issue with katrina, Oprah built an entire neighborhood for victims, 68 families and ONLY ONE white family, why is that?

Another thing lets point out, All the fraud with the debt cards by katrina victims that have costs this country hundreds of millions of dollars. some lazy *** man in NYC was told he had to leave his hotel room soon and he told the reporter no man cant do anything right now Gothika is coming on HBO. So gee he's had a year to find a job but I guess he's doing what he knows how, scamming our government.

I've been through one hurricane, and when the say leave they mean it. The people in the towers were trying to leave, hell they were jumping!
DONT EVEN COMPARE KATRINA TO 9/11 simple minded fools.

BTW isnt that no talent rapper supposed to be using his money to HELP HIS PEOPLE. thats what he said

I support our president and the men and women in our armed services, and so they went to war thinking that, at the time, it was what was needed to be done. All the money and attention has gone to those affected by 9/11 because it was something that was unforseeable... and we can't fight wars on natural disasters. I see where people are angered over the Katrina situation - but there is probably more money involved building a city from the ground up and reconstructing these peoples live than continuing this war. If we back out of the wars now, how would that help the people that we abandoned in those countries... and yes, I do agree that more should be done in New Orleans, but all of the planners just need to stop arguing over what needs to be done, and just do something.

I think that the WTC and victims of Katrina are two separate things with nothing to do with one another. The government screwed up big time with Katrina. They knew it was coming, they had reports that showed that the levees wouldn't hold and they did nothing. I was shocked when I saw photos of New Orleans recently. I could not believe the shape it was in. As far as this country being the way it portrays itself. It is all a big lie. This country from the start has been about power and empire. Everyone should read A People's History of the United States by Howard Zinn, also a magazine called Covert Action Quarterly. It is a strange feeling because I benefit every day because I am a white woman born here. I am glad that I am not a Middle Eastern woman. But my good fortune at being born here does not change the facts about what this country does all over the world. It only takes a little research but if you do find out the truth it will totally change your life. I don't salute the flag, or say the pledge of allegiance or involve myself in any patriotic hub bub because I think it is all a lie. I believe that this country is the Babylon spoken of in the book of Revealation. Chapter 18.

When you ask questions, it helps if you tell the truth. You say Bush did not go to "Louisiana" for "weeks" (you said "After weeks").

This is false. He went almost immediately to the hurricane area. He may not have gone into NO, only because the wonderful local people were shooting a lot of ammunition, and the Secret Service would not let him go into the combat zone. Get your facts straight.

I drive through that area every few months. I have to plan my trip so I do not need to stay at a motel on I-10 between Beaumont, TX and NO, or within 100 miles north because the motels are crammed with workers frantically trying to rebuild the city. So, it is also a lie to say "still haven't done much."

A few weeks ago, the workers tried to hire local people so even more could be done. They were offering around $20 an hour for workers with no special training. ONE WORKER SHOWED UP TO TAKE THOSE MANY JOBS.

There is a rest stop on the southbound side a couple miles north of the I-59/I-12 intersection. That hurricane hit over a year ago, right? Well, there is a damaged place on the roof of the restroom building that still has not been fixed. There is so much work being done in that area that the rest stop people have not been able to get labor or materials to fix that damage after an entire year. I saw it Friday morning when I came from my motel rest in Hattiesburg, MS to southern Texas. It is still covered with remnants of the original tarp put to keep the rain out.

Billions of dollars have been sent to NO. Billions more are on the way.

So, do you expect President Bush to personally stop his duties as President and go to NO, and take up a hammer and shovel? What rot.

I tired of people who essentially report outright lies, blaming Bush for things that either aren't true, or not his job.

I suggest if things aren't happening fast enough to suit you, go to NO, and apply for one of those $20/hr unskilled jobs instead of mindlessly blaming Bush for something that is not his fault.

I think it's because 9/11 was a huge shock. I'm not sure about everyone else, but I was really naive about the world before it. Now, after 9/11, the news always has at least one story about middle east crisis or disaster... I think people are just numb. But yes, Katrina should get more attention. It seems that people have just moved on, and Lousiana deserves more than that.

I think since 9/11 was a terrorist attack, the families should get a little something. People from Katrina should get up and do something for themselves. They need to start rebuilding and get back. Nobody can help you if you don't help yourself. It has been over a year! People did get money and tax-payers money! In Indonesia with the tsunami, they have already rebuilt and are getting back to normal. This is alot for a third world country and their government doesn't even help them. So, I say people should pick themselves up and not to wait for government assistance. In Mexico they had an earthquake and they're already done rebuilding.

OK. First, my heart and prayers go out to those of Katrina. It's a terrible thing that happened. But, Katrina was a NATURAL disaster. No one could have prevented it if we tried. 9/11 was a MAN-MADE disaster that could have been, should have been prevented. Both tragedies are sad, but I will say that 9/11 was worse. That's my opinion, and sorry for stepping on some feet.

Everyone wants to attack the mayor, Ray Nagin, asking him questions like did he have a plan, did he do this, did he do that, i mean, it's so ignorant to me because why would you attack a man who has been doing all that he can when he doesn't hardly have the government to back him up? Why don't all the people who criticize the mayor ask the president "where were u, why did FEMA have such a late reaction time" why don't u shove a couple of question up his rear end and see how well he can answer without someone having written his speech out for him, or him reading off of a teleprompter. or having a little microphone piece in his ear. America is not as great of a country as people may claim. If we were, why are we having so many problems, why do so many countries hate us, Americans?? Why is it that the news only talks mostly about bad things with an ocassional sprinkle of good news? .... America Ameica, God shed his grace on thee... (if he hadn't, where would we be)?

Hello! Victims of Katrina have been paid-- haven't you heard of the Red Cross-- they were handing out credit cards like candy...

There was also a lot of abuse of the "freebies"

And its really narrow-minded to blame the president. He can't be in every town where there is a tornado, or hurricane, or sandstorm or whatever.... He would be on the road 24 by 7! The people who really fell down on the job in LA were the locals!! They knew the levees were pieces of crap & the place was under sea level, but just kept sopping up the tax money & not making any repairs.....

Check your facts.

Well, I am definitely not making excuses for Bush, but I think they felt more obligated to help the families of 9/11 because it was VERY unexpected, and not to mention a terrorist attack.

Or, I could be wrong. I don't know.
