saying no one ever calls or comes to see her.and it makes me feel really sad and I try to tell her we just talked like a half hour ago and she dont believe me and hangs up .What can I do?

How tough, I really admire your continued contact. That is such a hard disease to deal with. Maybe the people she lives with could help. If she has a caregiver who would make a marker board for her or the caregiver to "tally" her calls on. Then when you talk to her you can say, did you look at your board. How many calls have you had today? It could be a physical way to remind her she is loved.

It's called Alzheimer.... not old timers.... although in my case it might be some-timers...lol. Crying is not unusual because she probably realizes whats going on to some degree.... seek medical help. many strides have been made in medication designed to slow down the affects of the disease.

i don't know if this would help, but maybe the next time you visit your great granny, you can take pictures w/ her. it would be like a memory book, documenting the time you spent w/ her. showing her the pictures may or may not jog her memory, but it's worth a shot.

well what you can do is learn. learn as much about the disiese and use the info. try haveing her write down when she talk to some one on a calendar and maybe even a short version of what it is about

That's sad,may God help her and help you to know how to deal with this hurt .Be kind and tell her what she wants to hear.

THAT IS SO SAD. I THINK THAT YOU SHOULD JUST LET HER THINK WHAT SHE WANTS SHE CAN NOT HELP IT.
