When it first broke downI took it to AAMCO. They put a new transmission in. I took it home and everything was fine, two days later it was accelerating funny, so I took it back to AAMCO, they put another new transmission in and for about two weeks it drove good and then it broke down on me on the freeway(it didn't want to accelerate and the check transmission light came on ), once again this was a transmission problem. Has anyone out there seen this happen before? (Repeated transmission Problems after it has been fixed) Does anyone have any insight on this? Does this mean I have a lemon?

No you do not have a lemon, it sounds like repair men errors. If they are placing a new transmission in as they say they are, it should not be acting like this, it sounds to me that they are either re-building yours improperly, or they are using some cruddy re-built ones. I have a mini van with the same problems and every time it's the torque converter...well, if you fixed it right the first time, I wouldn't be having the same problem again!!!

Did they give you a warranty???? I would take it back one more time, if it starts acting up again (you hopefully are not paying for this each time)...contact an attorney, and get them to help you out. Unfortunately there are people out there, that really do not care as long as they get paid, even though the service is inadequate...you could also search for AAMCO, they are a well known company, you could report this to the Better Business Bureau, and you could report it to the AAMCO home office. This company has a good reputation, and they do not need anyone screwing it up.

Good luck...I do understand what you are going through!!!

You have little choice but to take it back to AAMCO and have them fix it again. If you incur any towing charges that aren't paid by your insurance company, I would demand they start covering the excessive towing as well. If they can't get it right after two times, they deserve to pay the extraneous charges you will have to get yourself around.

The torque converter answer was a good one though it is something that AAMCO should be well aware of. Ask about it as well. Chances are AAMCO isn't rebuilding your transmission right there... they are probably replacing it with a rebuilt unit they get from a warehouse. I've replace numerous alternators until I finally got one that worked right. Thank God for lifetime warranties sometimes!

You can always take it to a different AAMCO if you think the one you've been to are dumber than a box of rox.

Good luck.

You've got a "Check Transmission" Light??!?
What kind of car has that?
Anyway, I had a transmission replaced twice and they would have replaced it again, except the car was 100 miles away and I would have had to pay the towing. Not AAMCO, but a good place. They said, "if you can get it here...blah,blah" so YOU take that car back TODAY and talk to the manager. Be polite, but He should be embarrased enough to really look into it and get things right. You paid alot of money to have them fix it.

I would need to know more about the type of car it is...... but I would say that there is a chance that possibly the problem could be computer related. A lot of newer cars have computer controlled transmissions. You said the check engine light came on , that means that there is a code store for the fault and that the car might have went into "limp home" mode. Just hard to say without being there. If you still have a warranty take it back and let them know how it acted and that the check engine light came on.. I am sure that they don't want you to have problems with their work anymore than you want to have the problems you are having..

Hope this helps

Yah know, I think you may want to let us know what kind of car you are driving, but if I didn't know better, I'd say you have a problem with your torque converter. Now, new transmissions and even rebuilt ones, usually come with a new torque converter. If they did not install a new torque converter, you will need to have them take care of that. Probably no troubles with the transmission. Good luck.

i dont think they put one in they just fixed the one you had and you cant fix part of it without rebuilding it all if you do it will cause other things to go wrong it will have new parts to old ones and the old ones cant and wont hold up it is creating more pressure and blowing other parts hey bigg dogg if it was in the computer it would also affect the car they are linked together and it was the trans light not the check engine light and many cars now have the trans light

need a little more info ie: year make and model. Most of the "chain store" transmission places only repair what broken with your tranny and you don't get a true overhaul. it may be worth a few bucks to get a second opinion.

I would go back to AAMCO, get my money back and go somewhere else that can do it right.
