1 - 1/4 = 3/4 left is not yellow

1/3 of 3/4 (multiply) is 3/12, which simplifies to 1/4 was green.

So far, 1/4 is yellow and 1/4 is green. This leaves 2/4 or 1/2 of the quilt left.

2/5 of the 1/2 is 2/10, which simplifies to 1/5 that is pink.

So, 1/4 is yellow, 1/4 is green, and 1/5 is pink. Since the rest is blue, we'll just subtract those three fractions from 1, which represents the entire quilt.

1 - 1/4 - 1/4 - 1/5

20/20 - 5/20 - 5/20 - 4/20 (20 is the common denominator)

(20 - 5 - 5 - 4)/20

6/20

3/10 of the quilt is blue.

Check your answer:

1/4 + 1/4 + 1/5 + 3/10 = 1?
5/20 + 5/20 + 4/20 + 6/20 = 1?
(5 + 5 + 4 + 6)/20 = 1
20/20 = 1
1 = 1 check

1/4 is yellow. That leaves 3/4. 1/3 of 3/4 is green=3/12 green=1/4 green. That leaves 1/2 left. 2/5 of 1/2 is pink=2/10 pink=1/5 pink. 1/4+1/4+1/5=1/2+1/5=5/10+2/10=7/10. Thus 3/10 of the quilt was blue.

If you start out with 100% or just the number 100, it's a matter of subtraction...

1/4 is yellow so that's 25 yellow leaving 75(%).

1/3 of what is left (75) is green, so 25 is green, leaving 50(%).

2/5 of what is left (50) is pink, so 20 is pink, leaving 30(%).

The rest is blue - 30% or 30/100 or 3/10 so everyone who told you 3/10th is correct.

1/4 = yellow

1/3 * 3/4 = 1/4 = green

2/5 * 1/2 = 1/5 = pink

(1/2 because 1/4 yellow + 1/4 green = 2/4 = 1/2 = green+yellow, rest is 1/2)

REST was blue: that means 1/4 (yellow) + 1/4 (green) + 1/5 (pink) = 14/20 = 7/10

10/10 - 7/10 = 3/10 = Blue

hope this makes sense to ya~

100% - 25% (yellow fourth) with 75% left.
75% divided by 3 (green third) = 25% so, 75% - 25% with 50% left.
50% split into 5 parts (fifths) is 10% per part, 2x10% = 20% pink.
25% + 25% + 20% = 70%
100% - 70% = 30% left, which is blue.

the answer is 1/60.

here's how to answer:

you have to add the yellow, green, and pink parts together to find out what is left. So, you need to find the common denominators in order to add these fractions. The shortcut approach to finding the common denominator is just to multiply the three denominators.

1/4 + 1/3 + 2/5

now multiply the denominators:
4*3*5=60

now adjust to numerators:
1/4 = 15/60
1/3 = 20/60
2/5 = 24/60

now add the fractions:
15/60 + 20/60 + 24/60 = 59/60

what's left is 1/60
and that's your answer: 1/60 is blue

1/4 yellow. 3/4 left, so 1/3 of that is another 1/4, leaving 1/2.
2/5 of 1/2 is 2/10 that is pink.
That leaves 3/10ths as (1/2 = 5/10ths) blue.
