I have a mouse on a sticky mousetrap and he is suffering, how do I get him off?

I don't want to kill him or hurt him.

I didn't put out the mousetrap, my friend did. I don't have mice in my house. But I saw the poor little thing stuck to it and I want to get it off. I don't kill animals or like seeing them die.

I've had one of these traps. I think I read on it you can use baby oil to try to get the glue off. But if you don't want to hurt him don't just rip him off. Let the oil set awhile so it soaks through the sheet. He should come off pretty easily.

Some of these people were really mean to you. I guess they didn't see the additional comments you left. That is really sad. I know how you feel. I saw one stuck to a sticky trap before and I put on gloves and pulled him off. He didn't try to bite or anything so I don't think it hurt him too much. I'm sure he'd rather feel the little bit of pain than die. I think all the people who told you to kill him are just sick people. Especially the guy that said to stomp on him. Sad.

If you didn't want to kill the mouse a sticky trap was not the way to go. A better trap would be a live trap, then you could release the mouse far from your home.

run it under warm water. my pet rat got caught in a trap my landlord put down and didnt tell me about. This worked, but the rat was still sticky for weeks. Keep the animal caged and feed it and water it for a while to make sure its eating and drinking and healthy. Once you are sure its ok, let it go outside and dispose of all those traps, theyre inhumane. Let whoever put it down know that they can buy a Havahart trap, which will catch it live and then they can free the animal. Even snap traps are more humane than glue traps.

get some baby oil or cooking oil and rub it on the glue part & his feet to get him loose. it might take a lot but it will work. do this outside then take him across the street to some woods. then go back inside & throw out all the glue traps!

tell your friend to try putting some strong scents such as cayenne pepper, moth balls, or peppermint extract out because they hate the smell. just put it all around where they r and use glue to close any small holes they may be coming in.

Your best bet is to try and dissolve the adhesive. You can try something like the link below. If you're going to buy something from the store, look for a dissolver that is mild. If that doesn't work, you can try taking scissors and cutting out the paper around the mouse's paws. (Mice can eat almost anything, and as long as the glue doesn't contain poison, he'll likely chew the bits of paper off his paws).

One word of advice though: If you set him free, he's going to come back to your house eventually. Good luck.

OH MY GOD POOR THING! you could try cutting a bit of his fur off the sticky. But wear gloves, i love mice but you dont no where it has been. If it comes out alive. put it in a box and take it to the vet!

You really should be careful with the mouse. It has teeth that can gnaw through many things including wood, wires, insulation, nuts and your skin. The mouse is a dangerous animal. Keep your distance. They carry and spread diseases. You can call animal control. They are professionals who will deal with the rodent.

Sorry, but unless you want to peel him off(which would probably be painful for the mouse anyway), he is on there for good. Unless you want to take it to the vet and have it euthanized (crazy). The best bet for you in the future may be to use a live trap. Then you can take them somewhere else (maybe a field) and let them go. Good luck
