I think no, but that is my opinion

I just feel like we are paying for the sins of the Father and the Son. It has nothing to do with Bush. I voted for him the 1st time. Yes, with all the "Intelligence" out there, there must of been SOME clue. Maybe not exactly what, but something to put us on alert

I think the person posting this may unintentionally have made this a political issue, and unfortunately 90% of the answers, be they liberal or conservative, have picked up the ball and run with it. The one irrefutable fact has nothing to do with Bush, his father and his alleged past with bin Laden or Clinton supposedly having his head on a plate and letting him go--all thus far quite refutable "facts" with little grist perpetrated by angst-ridden left and right extremists who will eventually kill this country. The one truth about 9/11 is this nation had become overly complacent and lax. Be it through the downsizing of the military at the end of the end of the Cold War era, the overconfidence of the US as the premier hegemonic power in the world or the overall brashness and invincibility we all felt as Americans, we had allowed ourselves to be left open for such attacks by our lack of urgency in national security at every level--from airports to the CIA intelligence to the kids shooting each other in schools and as a collective concience for the nation. Before 9/11, we hadn't been attacked on US soil by an aggressor since the early 1800s. Even after the clear and present warning signs such as the attack on the USS Cole and the previous attack on the WTC, we never thought it would, or could, happen to us, and that fact led to two outcomes: The stunned disbelief in the aftermath of the attacks by our nation of mourners and the awesome death toll that ensued with little expenditure on the part of our enemies (think about it--they used none of their own resources and with a mere 20 people killed thousands). That, folks, is the real reason 9/11 happened.

It doesn't matter who sits behind the desk of the Oval Office. The terrorists hate our country and what we stand for, not the person we call our leader for four years or so. These attacks would have happened no matter what.

As for the person who said that the President could have stopped it, I would disagree with you. Yes, he may have known about the attacks in advance, but I doubt the terrorists would have been nice enough to say, "Mr. President, we are going to hikack several planes and crash them into the Twin Towers and the Pentagon at exactly 9 AM on September 11, 2001. Hope this gives you ample time to prepare. With Love, Al-Qaida." Please!

There are over two hundred threats a week against the United States and most of them are centered on political targets. The Twin Towers, however, were symbols of liberty, prosperity, and freedom, ideas which some of the political factions in the Middle East hate.

How in the world could the President have known, acknowledged, prepared for, and prevented the September 11th attacks when he is already bombarded with threats every single day? It isn't possible to win them all, sad though it is. But think, if the CIA and FBI and whoever else didn't take many of those threats seriously and act accordingly, how many more of us would have lost our lives to terrorists? How many more buildings would just be rubble and holes in the ground and how many more families would be missing a loved one? Think about that before you blame our President.

I get really tired of people giving him a hard time. I don't agree with some of the things he has done but you know what...HE'S OUR PRESIDENT! And there's nothing we can do about it right now other than support him and pray for him. I know this is a free country and we have the right to speak our minds (however confused some of us may be) but griping gets us no where. Send some positive thoughts or vibes or ANYTHING his way. We know now that this was well in the works before Bush became President. (His dad also had the chance to bomb and didn't but that's another subject). We have evil people invade and do horrendous things to us and the first person we're mad at and try to blame is our President?? That thoroughly confuses me. I don't get it...I really don't. And just for argument's sake let pretend that all specualtion is true about him and that he did know the attacks were coming. What good is it proving us to be wasting our energy trying to crucify him and demanding the soldiers be brought back? Let's finish the fight the REAL enemy started once and for all and THEN secure our borders and be a little more prepared next time (God forbid) individually and as a nation. Granted, I don't think he's the greatest President we've ever had. He's not done anything spectacular like abolish slavery or anything but that doesn't stop me from supporting him, from praying for him. Ultimately, I can still believe in my God over any ordinary man in the world.

It happened because it had been planned for many years. It had nothing to do with who was in office or not. It is apparent from most of the world opinion, should you want to do something like this it is best to do it during a Dem's administration, cause they are known to drag and drop the ball in having any response whatsoever. So the logic would tell you that doing it during a Rep admin...is just plain suicide (pardon the pun)..

You certainly are free to voice your opinion and it is easy to state what you feel. I honestly think you might feel this way had it been a Dem President too.

Its hard to understand why anyone would do something like this especially if we as a people refuse to call this group of Islamic Terrorist for what they are, evil, and they want to bring down the entire modern world.

How can you think no??? 9/11 was something in the works long before Bush was president. Give me a break.

9/11 wouldn't have happened if Clinton would have bombed him (bin Laden) when he had the chance...but no he didn't want the world to think we were starting a war.

9/11 wouldn't have happened if Clinton didn't let him go when he was being offered bin Laden.

9-11 - the US emergency services number. The perpetrators of the incident had a bizarre sense of humor. Although the term 9-11 is used throughout the world in relation to the terrorist attack on that day, most countries actually put their date the other way around what is September 1st to Americans would be said and written as 1st September in most countries including UK, Europe and Caribbean

Yes. It wasn't the President's fault. We can't prevent every disaster from happening. That's why we need to trust in Jesus. He has a plan for even the most horrible of circumstances. And He will always help us through our hard times. But we must turn to Him, because He could let anything happen. And wouldn't you want to know that He would take care of you if something bad happened? But we can't understand it all. We are merely humans, and we speculate too much.

It is a good possiabilty that it would not have happen. Look at the facts. Bin Laden and Bush's farther had their difference. Bush ignored all of the information that he had gotten before that sad day and plain and simple I think it was a conspiracy.

I think that is an excellent question! I often wonder about that myself. I think that it would of happened, due to the presidents before Bush and including him. I think that it was in the planning stages for a while.

The truth will come out sooner or later and you are allowed to your opinion as everyone else is. There will always be a lot of speculations on this subject. I do respect your opinion on that.
