The way I see it...then, when the postman comes with your letters he could maybe put them through the hole.
It would save him having to smash the door down in order to be able to get your letters into the property. I think this is quite a money saving idea. What does everyone think?

Since a hole would let out the heat and might be noisy if you live on a busy street, you should just leave your door unlocked. That way the mailman could just let himself in and maybe put your mail on the coffee table..maybe you could have a cup of hot cocoa in a little thermos there so he could relax a bit.
Just be sure that he knows that it's unlocked..you may want to put a sign on your door that says, "UNLOCKED" so that he would know.

That just might work, and if you had pets, that could double as one of those doggie doors.

Don't forget about pizza delivery, you wouldn't even have to open the door.

Oh, and don't forget about trick or treaters, you could just pass the candy thru the hole and you wouldn't have to let the little rug-rats step foot into your house.

All in all, a great idea, sign me up.

The thieves in your area will love you for it. Why not fix a postbox outside, instead?
