IN MY OPINION medicine is to help with the symptoms. They do nothing to help you get over the cold or flu. HOWEVER, some medicines promote drowsiness, and sleep is what the body needs while it fights off the cold or flu.

If you can not take the time to rest and recover, but must go to work, then medicine can make you feel well enough to do some of your daily tasks. But REMEMBER, some medicines cause drowsiness, so use care when operating a motor vehicle. (if you are old enough to drive).

In some cases the doctor may prescribe an Antibiotic. This DOES kill bacteria that could be causing your illness. But be careful, the body also needs "Friendly Bacteria". After finishing (and ALWAYS finish taking antibiotics) your prescribed medicine, you might want to eat Yogurt. If you don't like Yogurt then take a couple of "Acidophilis" pills. They contain the bacteria needed for proper digestion.

Since there is no cure for the cold, but it wouldnt hurt to take meds they have to help relieve some of the symptoms. But it's totally up to you if you want to suffer through those symptoms with no help at all. THey dont hurt you, just help you feel better till the cold's gone. Why suffer?

Colds can be debilitating....healing the symptons can allow you to get the things done you need doing. These remedies won't heal your cold, just some of the symptoms.
