I was home because I felt like something bad was going to happen, yeah I know it sounds stupid but it is the truth, I was watching the Ricky Lake show and it got interrupted. At first I was mad because I thought it was a movie that our local station accidentally put on over the normal programing and then when the second plan came into view I just knew it was live and really happening. I was shocked! I did not know what the WTC was but I soon found out. I knew they had to be important since there were so many people working there, plus it was in NYC. I just was in plain shock and I was so sad for all the victims and their families. I think that this tragedy has made people realize that we are not the only Continent on this planet and we should be proud of our nation. We need to mourn for the losses but use it for something more. We can let the "bad guys" win. We have to turn this into something good. America is a great nation, be proud!

I was on the other side of the Hudson River living aboard my boat when I heard the crash of the second plane. My wife had just left for work and took the ferry across to the twin towers. I stood there on the deck of the boat and realized that I was witnessing history first-hand. I also realized the pain that all of those people who were trapped must be feeling at that time.
Fortunately, the ferry my wife was on had turned back after the second crash (people were still going to work!) and she was safe and returned to the boat.
We were asked, by the marina staff, to bring first aid equipment across to the New York side , so we did. This was only 10 minutes after the buildings had collapsed. We arrived in our smaller boat at the base of the towers and the police asked us to transport an injured fireman to the New Jersey side. His leg was badly injured and he was in shock. My wife tried to keep his mind occuppied with small-talk, but he had obviously seen more than he could handle.
After that, we transported some FBI and Internal Affairs officers up the river to man the local fire station which had become a command post. That station had lost a number of it's firefighters in the towers. It's on Houston St. in lower Manhattan.
After that we transported injured and elderly people by boat to New Jersey so they could be treated. Some were covered in white dust to the point that they looked like statues. After a while, the Coast Guard asked all private boaters to stop transitting the river, so we did.
That's how I spent that day.

I was with my daughter who was 7 at the time at a hotel on the Atlantic city board walk. I turned on the t.v. to watch the local morning news show when they showed the top of the tower on fire. At first reporters didn't believe it was a terrorist attack until we actually saw the 2nd plane hit the other tower. An hour later, I met my mother and aunt and I told them about it. We watched the drama go down on a near by television and when we learned that other planes crashed and saw the twin towers fall right before our eyes, we packed up our things and drove back to philly.

I was on my way to college, when my mom called. I ran into the school lounge to the TV. As I looked up, I saw the first tower blazing. I watched in horror as the second tower was struck. I watched both towers fall. I watched as the first person jumped. I felt my heart hit the floor and all I could do was cry. Although, I didn't know anyone personally, this tragedy happened to all of us. I will NEVER forget. I will always close my eyes and remember with a heart full of tears and a mind full of irreplaceable scenes.

I was working that morning and watching the news when the special alert said a plane hit the WTC. We continued watching all morning as events unfolded on CNN. For me the worst was watching the Towers Fall. No one mentioned that this was a possibility. My blood ran cold with shock. A horrid day for ALL.

I was overseas in Taiwan visiting my family. It was night time, my relatives were chatting with each other and I was with my cousins in their room using internet. I came downstairs and someone said an airplane hit some building in the U.S. I looked at the TV and thought it was an accident. Then the second plane hit, I couldn't belive my eyes. I was really sad and didn't know what to think...

I was in my livingroom half listening to a radio programme. The presenter said he would take a break as there was some breaking news. I turned on the tv news channel and couldn't believe what I was looking at. I watch as the second plane crashed. God bless them all.

I was at my office at a newspaper in the Florida Keys when we got the first call from my son's godmother telling me to "find a tv. Someone just flew a plane into one of the towers of the World Trade Center." And as she's describing the scene, suddenly she stopped and said, "Oh my God! There's another one!" Daily life as we knew it ceased to exist. I was afraid for my cousin who is a flight attendant for American Airlines. I was afraid for my (now ex-) husband who was in the Gulf of Mexico on an oil rig. And I was afraid for all of us. Just as today was around the country and around the world, it was an emotional day.

I was in a math class at college when the teacher came in hollering that a plane had crashed into the world trade center, then left the room only to return to tell us another one hit the other tower. It was horrible. I watched in horror as our world crumbled.
