I am to assume that the engine is not with the vehicle it came out of??? If you know the manufacture of the engine ie(Ford GM Chrys or some type of import) , you can sometimes use the casting number of serial number on the engine block itself. The process will narrow it down to within a group of years. Really need more info about what you are looking for. Soory best I can do with so little info.

lets start
check you owners manual.
generally speaking, in the engi9ne compart, you will find a
small plate with a lot of numbers. check there.
or as a last resort, chec k between the front and rear door pass. compartment and you will see some stickers.
hope it helps.

Well, lets see, you told us absolutly nothing. To top off telling us nothing, you did it very poorly. Maybe someday when you grow up and buy your own car, you will be able to tell someone a little more about it.
