Strange topic but obviously you've convinced yourself and they have won. Judging by some of the other answers there are a lot of people in the same boat. By being there you are labelling yourself. Live up to your ideals not the labels of others. Stop looking at yourself as part of society's we and be an individual. Exercise your right to be you for good and bad, you weren't born in a mold. You are someone that arrived at a precise moment in time in the history of mankind. No one else arrived at that time, in that place so if that doesn't make you unique what will?

Because that is how we are known to the society that encompasses us, whether we like it or not, whether the society is large or small. But we can all make the decision to act upon our "labels," whatever they may be, and to change and alter them, or remove them completely. But that decision can only be made by the person him/herself, and no one else. Others can and should encourage the person, but it is the person's final word that makes the greatest and most significant change. We don't have to live with labels; we have the option to change and rewrite them; we just have to do it.

I don't think we always do, in fact I think that people give us labels to suit the way they perceive us. We then have a choice as to whether we live up to their perception or not.
I think trying to live up to the labels we give our selves can be more frightening.
What do you think.

The good news though is we can break out of the mold and become who we really are.
My Mom "labeled" me and for many years Iived up to it.....I went to counseling and now I'm who I was meant to be and lots happier.

I try not to conform to any labels, but it is hard. I usually get "Very clever, geek, nerd, softie, not a leader" labels. I usually tell these people to f*** off just to shake them up a bit!!!

Because the vast majority of people just want to conform, rather than be individuals, and do not have sufficient self confidence or vision to be true to themselves.
