My husband and I couldn't wait for this backwards country to get around to doing the right thing, so we did the right thing - we spent as much money as we could on our wedding in the Canadian economy. The only money from our wedding spent in the U.S. was getting us to an airport served by a Canadian airline.

I am not gay, but I see nothing wrong when two people love each other and want to get married. The law should allow this because I know some of my friends are gay, and when their partner dies or is in a hospital with a long illness, the family of the one that is sick pushes them away. I think this is wrong, who knows better than your partner what you needs are? I get upset when this happens because the so-called family that did not want anything to do with that person now gets involved. Something needs to be done to correct this and I think marriage would be appropriate.

A few people will, but in Canada it is legal, and hardly anyone has gone into marriage. There are some with stable relationships but a lot do not want to be in the same relationship or any at all. Legally, human rights are human rights but the right to practice something doesn't mean people are happy with it, that it will appeal to anyone else, that the reasons for it are healthy, etc.

Where I live (the Netherlands) it has been legal for a few years. I'm not married. I wouldn't be married if I were straight either. I guess I'm just not attracted to the concept of marriage in the first place.
But in my opinion, gay marriage should definitely be legal everywhere.

No, it's legal here in Canada and we haven't rushed out to get married--we've been together 20 years..Looking at what the straight community...what a mockery and a mess they've made out of marriage...I'm not sure that's what I want..But I do believe I should have the option--I believe in equality.

I don't think that I would although I have been in a relationship for almost 30 years. Financially I am better off not married, and I don't need it for my commitment.

Why is it so important to get married? Can't two people live together without having to get the approval of everyone else? Who cares what everyone else thinks.
