I swear to heaven you have got to meet someone who will rub your feet for you for about an hour. This is my method. I know a couple of friends, and when they are ready to drop dead, I have them plop down in my recliner and pop their feet up where I can reach them. I pull up a hassock and draw closer and have them take off their shoes and socks and I go to work on their feet, slowly. They ooh and ahh, and often fall right off to sleep, but I keep right on working. Then I rub their ankles and calves for them and the lower leg which gets all knotted up from standing all day (and night, knowing your schedule!). Seriously, sometimes, I have them draw the hottest tub they can stand and hop in. I toss them a big fluffy guest towel and leave them alone for about an hour. They come downstairs looking like they are made of rubber. That's when I have them collapse in my big recliner and just breathe deeply and let everything go. It works every time. Where you see the most effects of having your feet rubbed that long is in the eyes. The eyes, and all the muscles around them, completely relax and the person looks like he is in dreamland. This is a neutral and loving way to calm someone down, and also recharge their batteries for them if they are exhausted from accumulated stress and tensions from the day's work. So, to answer your question of twenty minutes ago when I began writing all this, be a woman on a mission and find yourself someone who would love to rub your feet for you after work. After two sessions, I guarantee you will be a new person. Sent to you with love and care and an understanding heart from Chris in South Portland, Maine, U.S.A. (I am 63 years old.)

Well you can't beat a long soak in an aromatic bath - fragrance of your choice but there are some that help relaxation and a good book with some quite soft background music. You musn't of course forget the hot choc and chocci bar but be careful you don't leave it too long before eating it as the heat in the bathroom would make it soft and then you'd have a mess on you hands and you don't want that!!!!

If you are not ready for a bath when you get home, how about a nice stroll in the woods or park or along the seashore.

Alll good stuff - the important thing is that you take some time out for you before you get on with the necessities.

My girlfriend is a nurse and, when she's not working a late shift or nights, she attends the martial arts class that I run in the evenings. She says she can take out her stress fighting all the blokes! I on the other hand like to relax by reading a book and enjoying a glass of Italian red wine, especially on a Friday night. Hope that helps.

Drink a beer or two, and watch some TV. That's for a male nurse to unwind. A female would prob like a bath or something and a glass of wine.

Zone out with a mindless TV show that you don't have to think about. Have a glass of wine. Light some scented candles and read a good book. Surf the Internet and answer some questions on Yahoo! Answers (this is what I do).

Full hot very foamy aroma therapeutic bubble bath with a few candles, a blow up bath pillow and a novel of your favourite author. You may add some instrumental/spiritual music, but only as a soft background. Have a glass of wine and a glass of water next to you as well!
The water washes off the day,
the aroma therapeutic bubbles works with your senses,
the pillow brings comfort,
the novel lets you forget,
the music soothes your mind,
the wine lets you relax,
the water quenches your thirst.

I would designate an area, either indoors or outdoors that offers you soothing through the senses of touch, smell, sight and sound. Use your imaginations as I dont know what your likes or dislikes are. Myself, I have a hammock in my back yard, 2 fountains, several varieties of lavendar and a cat on my lap.

I agree with Amazing Magenta but I would have a shower instead of a bath. Good food and Good music is essential to relax anywhere.
