I think that To wong foo was just too pat, cute, but too formulaic.
Rocky wasn't so much a drag movie as a twisted venture into the ridiculous..Tim Curry was fantastic
Pricilla ranks up there as nearly great,
Mrs. Doubtfire really wasn't a drag movie
but the ORIGINAL Aux Cage was almost over the top, subtitles and all. The remake did not do the original justice. Sorry Robin Williams, you didn't quite get it right. The Original Aux Cage is the classic funny Drag movie in my book. Rent it if you can. You will see what I mean.

La Cage aux folles is the winner for me because it's both funny and witty, as well as a clever satire on middle class values and attitudes.
Both Ugo Tognazzi and Michel Serrault give star performances.

An excruciatingly funny move in which crossdressing is central to the plot is Some Like it Hot (Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon and Marilyn Monroe). It's simply a very funny film and for me at least is only rivalled in funniness by Duck Soup (Marx Brothers).

Another film I really liked but deals with more serious aspects of a man dressing as a woman is The Crying Game (Neil Jordan)
I haven't yet seen Breakfast on Pluto, and I'm waiting until Transamerica is released on DVD, so I can have a good cry in private.

I collect gay movies (curerntly some 700 titles), well we all got to have hobbies. My favorite drag movie has got to be Conna and Carla. Way too funny by far. As for the Rocky Horror Picture Show (and lets not forget the little shop of horrors) its a favorite as well, especially the section "Sweet Transvestite", a great song!. Tim Curry is fantastic in an movie he's ever been in.

My all time fave is "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" with Hugo Weaving (before matrix and Vendetta), Terence Stamp and the gorgeous and uber talented GUY PEARCE.

My fave line is:

Bernadette: "That's just what this country needs: a cock in a frock on a rock!"

bloody wicked statement... love it!!!
