Depends on the court. Some have to pay until college graduation some stop at 18. Check with a local atty. They should answer that over the phone, no charge.

According to Divorcenet under Texas child support, it is supposed to continue until the child turns 18, but if the child graduates high school after turning 18, the child support continues until graduation. The only chance it would cover a college education is if it was written into the child support order, and it could be a real remote chance that it would be in the order if not discussed and agreed upon. Whether or not a parent continues to pay child support once a child graduates is up to the noncustodial parent. Some parents are good about it, but then there are some who are not quite so willing to do so.

It depends on two things. First on the law of the State. Also, is there a Court Order? If so, what does the Court Order say? Sometimes it is mandated that a parent pay until the child turns 18 and sometimes it is mandated that a parent pay until the child finishes school. You might want to check the court order and see what it says. If there is nothing on the document, try contacting an attorney. If you cannot afford one, try checking with free legal aid.

Most states now recognize that although 18 they are still considered a minor untill they finish high school.. 18 suggests they are an adult and can support themselves..

Most of the time it is when the child graduates high school or turns 18, whichever is later.

As long as the child lives under your roof or gets benefits from you, child support must be paid.
