go download Cleanup (from stephengould.org) or Ccleaner (from filehippo (or just google them for download links). .

and run them and they'll give you back some space. .

then go through your hard drive using Windows Explorer and look for junk you don't need that can be deleted (such as all the internet signup crap every new computer comes with (including the software from all the other ISP's that you don't use (like AOL, earthlink, compuserve, MSN, etc .. . )

then do a defrag and you should find yourself a bunch of new memory . .

another thing you could do is burn a lot of stuff you want to keep to a CD or DVD or else save it on a jump drive, and then delete it from your hard drive (so you still have it on the CD, DVD or jump drive)

also, opening Add/Remove Programs (in control panel) (under Start, Control Panel (or, if you have an older OS like 95 or 98, "Start, Settings, Control Panel"). .

and find programs in there you never use and then click them to highlight them and click "Remove" and then "ok" and "Ok". . etc. . til they are gone. . this should clear up a fair amount of space as well. .

do the defrag AFTER you remove all the programs and other junk, tho'. .

Clearing space on your HDD is really simple. The first thing that you are going to do is click "Start" at the bottom left corner of your screen. Find "Settings" and then Click "Control Panel" Find "Add or Remove Programs" Simply scroll down the list and find programs that you dont want or need. (for Windows 95-2000)

Another way of doing clearing space is to go into "My Documents" and find personal files that you dont need there. Examples of these files are pictures and word documents. You can also go into Windows media Player (or other media player) and remove any music that you dont want.

If youre using windows you can do two things.

Double click on my computer and right click on C: drive Click properties.

On the New Window under the General Tab you can Click on Disk Cleanup and it will allow you to clean up un-necessary data.

The other thing is to Defrag your computer and there are tutorials everywhere. This doesn't clean up much space but it cleans up garbage on your drive and makes it run faster.

Do a disk cleanup and go through your files and delete the stuff you dont need. And most importantly, defragment your hard drive so your computer will run faster.

If you have stuff on your computer that you want to keep but don't really use then compress it using Winrar or a similar program. By doing that you can conviently compress a folder into a single smaller file and it'll be easier to back up if you need to.

duh, take off what you don't need. start/control panel/add remove programs. Then do a disk cleanup and defrag. start/accessories/systemtools. Both those functions are found in that path.
