I love Garnett. But there's only one Larry legend.

Easy one. Larry Bird is far better. Because of one simple thing. Killer Instincts. Larry Bird and a few others have them, KG and many others dont. Thats not a knock on Kevin Garnett he is one of the 10 best players in the NBA. But Larry Bird had that instinct that told him where to be, how to do it, and what to do when all the marbles was on the line. (ex. when he stole the inbounds pass from Isiah Thomas then made the game winning assist in a split second.)

I think you are comparing apples and oranges: Bird was a SF, Garnett is a PF.
But if I have to, I'd say Garnett is a better athlete, rebounder and defender, while Bird was a better shooter, scorer, and passer.
For 'intangibles', I'd also give Bird the upper hand on B-ball IQ because he was very clever in every facet of the game, and on competitive drive and the ability to make his teammates better.

Overall, if I wanted one of these guys as a go to guy and as the keystone for a championship team, it would have to be Larry B.

I love KG. He's a damn good player and a great role model. But Bird was the complete player. Like Magic Johnson these two were probably the best all-around players the NBA has ever seen.

Larry Bird was one of the five greatest to ever play the game (THE GREATEST, in my opinion), so it's not even really close.

bird,,,sick shot, good D, played hard...not to take anything away from KG. I personaly feel that he is the best in the NBA today, he carries that team on his back. I say bird because the game was different and there werent as many foul calls...resulting in tougher D
