If u oppose the War, the cons say you are a traitor; is that why pro-peace activists oppose domestic spying?

If you're considered a traitor by the government for opposing the Iraqi War, would you take a dim view of warrentless wiretaps without any judicial monitoring?

I oppose it because it gives the government all the power to put more and more control on your life. Isn't weird that Republicans used to be about small government and always accused the left of being commies? And now its them who are giving the government the power to spy on its own citizens. Strange times.

I'm already being spied on far more efficiently by consumer groups and other retail industries than anything the government can do. I get junk mail quoting my mortgage amount, E-mails from High School reunion organizers who know my last five addresses, birthday greetings for my daughter from baby retailers that I never visited, my credit score is known by my employer, AOL can perpetually bill me for services I don't want, and some trash with an IQ of 65 can steal my identity faster than I can get new credit cards. The numbers I call and my party affiliation aren't even in the first tier of the invasion of my privacy.

One's position on the war has nothing to do with a position on "domestic spying" (misnomer, actually overseas spying). I've met every combination. Peace activist who see higher levels of surveilance as a better alternative to more war, War supporters who oppose more surveilance.

And not all anti-war persons are considered traitors. Just the ones with silly consiracy theories, or the ones who leak information that put our troops in dnager, or the ones who consider the terrorism against the US as justified.

I am very conservative guy, and I oppose domestic spying. This is not what the Libs oppose, even though it is what they say they oppose, kinda like voting for something before voting against it. They consider a wire tap on an international call to be domestic spying, I do not. The Bush admin. has (as other admins. have; i.e. Clinton's) wire tapped calls to and from countries like Pakistan, Syria, Saudi Arabia... They do not use this unwarranted wire tap for calls within the USA. This unwarranted wire tapping has been credited in aiding the uncovering of the liquid explosives plot in London. Libs can only oppose anything the Republicans come up with because they have no ideas and only know how to oppose. You need an idea to actually come up with something constructive. During the entire Cold War the liberals wanted to deal with the Russians by negotiation. They gained nothing and opposed Reagan at every turn. Reagan won the Cold War even though the liberals opposed everything. Today they do the same, oppose, oppose oppose...

Not living in a Dictatorship ... yet. People are entitled to freedom of expression and freedom from being spied on by the Government. Those who trash the constitution are the real traitors not people who disagree with the war. They never did find those WMD which they told the American people was the reason for going into Iraq. They never did find a link between AL Qieda and Hussein like they claimed existed. What they did was to invade a country for no reason at all except Bush's annoyance that Hussein had embarrassed his dad. That is no good reason to sacrifice the lives of brave, good men and destroy their families. Those are the facts, not some twisted lies propagated by Rumsfeld et al.

I only have an opinion.
Just like the rest of the civilians, (I used to be military), I do not know the whole story.
I do know that terrorism exists.
If you sit back and do nothing, you will invite the warriors into your living room.
I hate the Idea of our boys being in harms way. as long as they are in harms way, I am not going to support any activism protesting the war.
When those soldiers ask me as a body majority to protest, I will, not a moment sooner.
And they better send a general, or two.
