The US Postal Service is expanding its hours in metropolitan areas. Many offices are open until 7pm, 9pm or 24 hours.
The Post Office is trying to keep the costs down, so stamp prices don't have to go up. It doesn't make economic sense to keep all offfices open late.
You can conduct almost all of your postal business 24 hours a day at USPS.COM. At that site, you can purchase stamps, mail a package and request free carrier pickup, ask for redelivery of an item, put your mail on hold or forward it. What exactly do you need to do?

Maybe they are like banks. They close their doors early so they can do all the things they can't do while serving customers. But yeah, it is sooo annoying!
