my friend has a yz 125,it has all gears except 1st,if he puts it in firs whe whole bike locks up!he gave a shop 2000 to fix it but they never did after a year,when he went to get it they had said"oh its stil broken" what could this be?

Well for starters you don't pay a shop in advance unless they have to order parts. If they ordered parts and then didn't do the job, but those parts are paid for by you they are yours to take along with the bike. Second what kind of shop is this that held it for a year anyway? Somethings not right.

The shop is inept and their mechanics don't know what they're doing! I don't know why your friend paid before the work was done.
Take the shop to small claims court!!!!!!!!!!!
Get all your work orders together. Receipts and any other info you can think of.
