I'm not sure about "hate", but I'm sure there individuals that do. Here are few different reasons people may dislike America:
1). There can sometimes a perception of the "Ignorant American Tourist." Someone who doesn't want to learn about a new culture or attempt to communicate (at least learn to say "hello") in the native language. It necessary to be respectful.
2.) Politics. The US is as a whole really conservative in comparison to countries in Europe for example.
3.) Possibly jealousy as others have mentioned.
4.) I guess the current administration and the war in Iraq could have something to do with it as well.
These explanations are possible reasons, I really cannot tell you (as I, myself, I'm proud to be an American). Those who dislike America or Americans may have one of theses, all of these, or reasons all of there own. It varies.

It's human nature to want to blame your failings on someone else. The US is a VERY successful country. Not only do we have freedoms many other countries don't have, but we've also managed to successfully blend different cultures, religions and ethnicities with very little incident.
Other countries may also think we're evil because they keep losing their citizens to us. Think about it - when was the last time someone jumped on a rickety boat with a dozen of their friends and family to head for Cuba? Is anyone beating down Mexico's door because the jobs there are so terrific?

Who thinks the U.S is evil?????? The u.s isnt evil!!!!
Some ppl said in Iraq "Behead the ones who killed O'sama Binladin!" Or how about in Iraq they ppl where also holding p signs that said "Just wait for the REAL holacaust!" Or "England Just wait for your 9/11!" Now who do u think is evil now? Well not really evil but very very very very barbacric! I tottally disagree with auntiegray. They ppl on Flight 93 were going to crash the plane into the white house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE WHITE HOUSE!
I think some Iraq people may think we Americans are evil but everyone else doesnt think that way do they now? We Americans I think should help OUR country FIRST then help others. Dont get me wrong its nice to help others but please no one hardly ever helped us!

As an Indian I don't think that US is an evil country. In fact it is a great country like India. My first and last dream is to visit US even at once in my life period. No country is good or bad only we the citizens make it good or bad.

Ummm because we take all their valuables, kill their leaders off, and get their people to work for pennies a day? And that's just our government. Our corporations take over entire countries, employ hit squads to prevent organizing by the locals, bribe warlords to terrorize unarmed people, spread weapons and landmines around, assassinate elected officials, pollute their land, air, and water, build dams in the name of 'progress' that flood out entire civilizations, and put their governments into debt so that they have to sell the food that they should be feeding their people.
We don't have to be this way, but we are, and it's in the name of God, Country, and "Always Low Prices".
These things don't even make them mad at us. What REALLY makes them mad is that we all know it's true but we don't do anything about it. We have all kinds of news stories about how people should 'rise up' in other countries and overthrow their oppressive regimes, but we don't stop buying the junk that our corporations shove down our children's throats with bloated advertising, scientific manipulation, and fear mongering. (Stores don't put in all those fancy security devices to stop shoplifters as much as to make you feel uncomfortable when you don't buy something.)
If you want change, keep it in your pocket. Your dollar is your vote. The machines don't count.

Because we waste more food than any other country (I think) and we are more wealthy than most other countries. We have more than most countries, whether tangible like money and food or not non-material, like power and military force and freedom. Basically they are jealous of us, in a way, but they also have sufficient reason to think we are bad people, since we waste and destroy so many things without thinking anything of it. Just look at all the junk we produce and all the food we waste. In a way, we are a bad country, worse than most, who don't even have enough food for anyone at all.

They don't think we're evil -- they're just jealous because we're a free country.
