Yes this closer & closer partnership with America leaves us wide open 2 criticism later on.
We R going 2 have 2 decide whether we really want 2 B the 52 state, coz I think it would B a bad-bad move.
I'm confused.
Mrs Thatcher ( god she did look awful ) this morning was bleating on how we should stand shoulder 2 shoulder with the US & the new bloke Cameron was saying we need 2 distance ourselves.
But I guess it's comforting 2 know that all the Political Parties R Duff 2gether.

The minimum wage of little importance. In reality, a great many employers simply flout the law and ignore the minimum wage. Many Polish workers in UK for example, especially those on building sites, are often employed by unscrupulous people who do not give a damn.
What has really happened in recent years to put more cash in the pockets of workers, is that the Chancellor of the Exchequer has raised the tax free allowance by something like one hundred pounds per year over the past five years or so. In other words, everyone who pays PAYE [income tax] is actually better off.
If you are not in receipt of the minimum wage, find out how much it should be and demand it now. Join a union first and get them to act on your behalf. Your MP should also be able to help.

Assuming you are British, you are highlighting all that is wrong with Britain in your bold foolishness. (I used to be British once, I remember well!)
The minimum wage in the USA was established at about $0.25 in the late 1930's, I think, and has only ever gone UP since then. I strongly suspect you meant to imply the "buying power" of minimum wage is currently somewhat lower than it has been because of general inflation.
Minimum wage is not meant for living on. Anyone trying to support themselves or a family on it have misunderstood the system. If you raise it, everyone getting more also deserves a proportional increase to be fair, (don't they? Or do you think the guy earning less then you deserves to get as much as you without having to do your job?) and that only results in inflation since it raises everyone's costs.
Minimum wage is for starters. If you take a minimum wage job, and don't get a merit raise almost every year after that, then either you aren't working very hard, or you're working for the wrong company. Work harder, go work somewhere else, or start your own business!

Probably. The minimum wage in the US is far too little. Let's be honest and raise it to something fair like $250.00 an hour. As long as we can mandate what business pays, let's make them suffer!

The minimum wage was introduced by this government so no!
The rate goes up again in October and will be around £6.30 per hour, almost £2.00 more than it was when it was introduced.
