What exactly does the term classically trained (in music) mean?

What exactly does the term classically trained (in music) mean?
That term seems SO loose to me.
Does it mean that you studied the classical theory of music and classical music for years? OR Does it mean that you went to a collage for it?

Studied classical music. Theories etc. Classic on a guitar is plastic strings.

Usually someone who is trained in classical music ie Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, etc. Also, able to read music, and music charts. Not just playing by "ear".

It means that the musician has taken years of lessons to enable him/her to play intricate classical pieces. This requires full fluency in the language of music as well as proficiency on the instrument.
