The ears, sure. Anything else, is questionable.

If the teenager is between 13-17, then they should only pierce their ears. If they want any other body parts pierced, they should do this at the age of 18. Reason being, if anything goes wrong, then they are adult enough to take the responsibility or consequences.. Why should their parents take on that guilt??

your question asks if girls SHOULD get things pierced, and I
think most of the answers above ignore the question -- I do not
think any of the people would vote that girls SHOULD have to
get anything pierced...

However, another question, is it ok for girls who want to, to do so,
would be yes... - and I agree with the answer - not internal parts
like the tongue etc. for health reasons.... ( duh )

the rest of the stuff is a matter of personal preference only - you could be living in asia or africa where parents take a broken piece of glass and cut off the girls' clitoris, without anesthetics or disinfectant, while the girl screams.... and people think that having someone use disinfectant to pierce and ear is barbaric in North America - get real... wake up... After an ear peircing you are given a bottle of dissinfectant to use, and the dissinfected needle used only hurts for a second. How about getting 4 large male family members hold down the arms and legs of a young female and start operating with dirty broken glass? How come THAT question never enters the conversation ?

I think that as a teenager you should always wait. I don't know how old you are, you could be 13 and if you're that young then you should definately wait because things we do that seem like a god idea when we're young is usually regretted. However piercings are a far better option than tattoos so if you're hell bent on getting one, a pretty piercing in a discrete area is what I would suggest.

Ear piercing are fine at any age. Maybe 13 for a second or more hole.

Belly button piercing at least 16.

Any other piercings 18.

I think it depends on the maturity of the teenager. If a teenager goes through many image phases then it would be a good idea to dis-courage them as they will probably regret it. I think Navel piercing looks quite nice but too many face piercings can sometimes look bad.

ears are fine, but would not be encouraging other piercings. though have not been in that situation yet,so don't want to commit to an answer, as most likely i would give in ,if it was a piercing which was not possibly harmful.
p.s i saw a young girl ,who had obviously had an eyebrow piercing before, which i don't think is ugly or bad, but she had no ring in and there was a hole which did not look very nice. i was wondering what she would do if she had to go for an interview at a prestigeous company that has a strong image to uphold.

Yes, I have two teenagers and I think if I did not allow them to, they would have done it anyway when thet were old enough. Peer pressure doesn't help but if they are asking you, they are respecting you and you should meet them half way nothing to drastic ie nose, lip etc. Ears are very common piercings and I have not heard from anyone whose had a bad experience. My two daughters are 18 and 20 and they have been happy with their belly and ears only. My eldest tried her nose but soon took it out with no effect on her beauty.

If she's 16+ then I think it's great. Any younger and it should be with parental consent, depending on where she wants to get pierced of course! I saw a girl with a navel piercing once and I found it quite disturbing that her parents allowed her to do it. She couldn't have been any more than 14.

Well I don't see a problem with getting their ears pierced and the other types of piercings, it should be up to each individual's parents, not a bunch of people on Yahoo deciding what's best for everyone. HTH.

I'm okay with ear-piercings... to an extent.

I'm not that okay with teenage girls with too much piercings though. I'd rather have them decide if they really want piercings when they're in the 20+'s
